Hollow Knight Silksong: Tools Guide

You can unlock and acquire 65 different tools in Hollow Knight Silksong. However, depending on the color of a specific tool, you may need to spend your Silk to use that item. Or, the tool may rely on its separate limited ammunition to work. And other tools only provide passive upgrades for Hornet.

If you want to get your hands on all of these tools in a single playthrough, you’ll need to explore every inch of Pharloom. In the following guide, you’ll learn how these tools work and every single tool that you can grab in the game.

How Do Tools Work in Hollow Knight Silksong?

Tools are divided into four colors, namely, White, Red, Yellow and Blue. White tools are mostly items that you can actively use to attack enemies by spending your Silk reserves. Red tools are also active items, but they rely on their own ammunition and not Silk. Yellow and Blue tools offer passive effects that are beneficial for Hornet.

You can equip only one white tool at a time. However, you might be able to equip several tools of the other three colors. This will depend on your build and the crest you are using. If you want to change your equipped tools you’ll need to visit a rest bench, and do it from there. Doing so also replenishes the ammo for all of your equipped Red tools.

Let’s take a look at all 65 tools in the game.

All White Tools

Silkspear	Throws Needle towards an enemy to deal damage.	Bind the idol in the Mosshome region of the Moss Grotto location.
Thread Storm	Needle unleashes silk threads all around you, which lashes enemies.	Bind the idol in the Craw Lake region of Greymoor.
Cross Stitch	Deflect enemy attacks and strike back right after an enemy strikes.	Reward for beating the Phantom boss in Bilewater.
Sharp Dart	Pierce through your enemies.	Bind the idol in the Weavenest Karn region, which lies to the west of the Wormways.
Rune Rage	Rending runes are sewn upon your enemies.	Reward for beating the First Sinner boss in Bilewater.
Pale Nails	Enemy seeking talons unleashed to deal damage.	Bind Grand Mother Silk’s arm during Act 3.

All Red Tools

Straight Pin	Rapid throwing tools for light damage.	On a table in the region just above Grindle’s Cell in The Marrow portion of the game.
Threefold Pin	Flat weapon that you can throw in a set.	Inside the Secret Cave just above Craw Lake in Greymoor.
Sting Shard	A trap made up of sharp blades. You can lay the trap, and any enemies that touch it will be pierced by the blades.	Forge Daughter can craft it in the Deep Docks region.
Tacks	Sharp pins that you can scatter on the ground. Enemies will receive damage if they walk over them.	Reward for completing the Roach Guts Wish for Crull and Benjin.
Longpin	A weighed pin that’s designed to penetrate shells.	Behind the Pink Wasp nest in Shellwood.
Curveclaw	A boomerang like device that you can throw to take down flying enemies.	Purchase it from Mottled Skarr in the Hunter’s March area.
Curvesickle	Radial sharpbone that can take down enemies when you throw it at them.	In the room just above the Bellway in Far Fields.
Throwing Ring	A throwing weapon that can ricochet between enemies to hit multiple targets.	Complete the Trail’s End Wish and find Shakra in Bilewater.
Pimpillo	Explosive pouch that blasts when thrown at enemies. You can ignite its fuse for a slower explosion as well.	You can craft it at the area just above Yarnaby’s Bellhome in Greymoor.
Conchcutter	Throw this conchspire weapon at an angle to ricochet between enemies and damage them.	In the Sands of Karak area, you’ll find this tool inside the Coral Tower cave.
Silkshot I	Use shell canisters and your Silk to fire deadly shots toward enemies.	You’ll find it as a Ruined Tool in Bilewater. Take it to Forge Daughter in the Deep Docks so that she can repair it and make it useable.
Silkshot II	Use shell cannisters and your Silk to fire deadly shots toward enemies.	You’ll find it as a Ruined Tool in Bilewater. Take it to the Twelfth Architect in the Underworks region.
Silkshot III	Use shell canisters and your Silk to fire deadly shots toward enemies.	You’ll find it as a Ruined Tool in Bilewater. Take it to the crafting table near the rest bench in the northern portion of Mount Fay.
Delver’s Drill	You can drive down while the drill is rotating for some intense damage.	On a table in the southwestern portion of the Underworks area.
Cogwork Wheel	A circular blade that rotates quickly using a motor and can propel forward to slice enemies.	The Twelfth Architect can craft this tool for you in the Underworks area.
Cogfly	A flying cogwork ally that’ll seek out enemies and attack them.	You can craft it at the table in the High Falls region.
Rosary Cannon	Fires Rosaries at enemies.	On the table in the Forum region of the High Halls area.
Voltvessels	Throw the orbs of electricity for explosive discharge. Or, stick them on the end of spears to deal electricity damage when hitting foes.	During Act 3, you’ll find this on a table in the Memorium region.
Flintslate	Increases the damage of your Needle by temporarily superheating the blade.	On a table in the Deep Docks region.
Snaresetter	A Silk rune trap that you can lay on the ground. When enemies come into contact with it, the trap ignites. Uses shell canisters and Silk.	On a table just above the bench in Weavenest Atla.
Flea Brew	Temporarily increases your attack and movement speeds.	Find five fleas for Fleamaster Mooshka and receive this item as reward.
Plasmium Phial	Inject this phial into Hornet to increase her health beyond the maximum.	Reward for completing the Alchemist’s Assistant Wish for Alchemist Zylotol.
Needle Phial	Store different liquids in this phial, and then throw it at enemies while the phial is full.	Receive it at the beginning of the Alchemist’s Assistant Wish.

All Blue Tools in Hollow Knight Silksong

Druid’s Eye	Protection amulet that produces Silk as you take damage while wearing it.	Reward for completing the Berry Picking Wish.
Druid’s Eyes	Protection amulet that produces Silk as you take damage while wearing it. A more powerful version compared to Druid’s Eye.	Reward for finding all mossberries and handing them over to Moss Druid.
Magma Bell	Protects you from intense heat in the Deep Docks. You can traverse through lava without taking damage.	Forge Daughter crafts it for you in the Deep Docks area.
Warding Bell	Offers protection to Hornet while she’s healing.	On a platform in Far Fields.
Pollip Pouch	Applies venom to all equipped tools.	Reward for completing the Rite of the Pollip Wish in Shellwood.
Fractured Mask	Shields the player against critical damage but shatters on impact. You can repair it when you rest at a bench.	Buy from Mottled Skarr in Hunter’s March.
Multibinder	Healing takes longer but heals more of your HP.	Buy from Frey in Bellhart.
Weavelight	Improves the speed at which your Silk regenrates.	Reward for beating the Moss Mothers boss.
Sawtooth Circlet	Sawtooth blade that damages surrounding enemies when you flare your cloak.	The Twelfth Architect can craft it for you in the Underworks area.
Injector Band	Insert Silk deep inside a bug’s shell to improve the rate of binding.	On a table in the Whiteward area.
Spool Extender	Allows Hornet to store more Silk than full capacity.	Buy from Jubilana in Songclave.
Reserve Bind	You can use it as an alternate source of healing when you lack Silk reserves to do it normally. After one use, you’ll have to replenish it by resting.	Reward for beating the Second Sentinel boss.
Claw Mirror	Binding emits a dazzling flash that damages surrounding enemies.	Reward for beating the Trobbio boss.
Claw Mirrors	Binding emits a dazzling flash that significantly damages surrounding enemies.	Reward for beating the Tormented Trobbio boss.
Memory Crystal	A crystal that explodes into sharp crystals and damages foes when they come into contact with it.	Found just behind the wall of ice in Mount Fay.
Snitch Pick	Use a harpoon to retrieve items and Rosaries from enemies while also dealing additional damage.	Buy from Grindle in the Blasted Steps.
Volt Filament	Integrate electricity into your Silk skills.	Reward for beating the Voltvyrm boss.
Quick Sling	Doubles the number of tools you throw.	Break through a false ceiling in Bilewater to retrieve it.
Wreath of Purity	Repels muckmaggots. Breaks upon use and repairs automatically after resting.	On a platform in the Putrefied Ducts area.
Longclaw	A talisman that improves the range of Needle attacks.	Reward for completing the Broodfeast Wish in the Putrefied Ducts.
Wispfire Lantern	Spend Silk to spawn wisps from the Lantern that’ll burn enemies.	Reward for beating the Father of the Flame boss.
Eggs of Flealia	When your health is full, the cost of casting Silk skills will be lower.	Reward for completing the Lost Fleas Wish in The Marrow.
Pin Badge	Lowers the time it takes to charge Needle Strike.	Reward for beating the Pinstress boss.

All Yellow Tools in Hollow Knight Silksong

Compass	Hornet’s location is marked on the map when you equip this tool.	Buy from Shakra.
Shard Pendant	Collect more shell shards after defeating enemies.	On a table in The Marrow.
Magnetite Brooch	Automatically collect any loose beads in the surrounding area.	Buy from Pebb.
Weighted Belt	Hornet won’t recoil as far back when striking foes. Also, when taking hits, she won’t be thrown as far back either.	Buy from Mort.
Barbed Bracelet	Increases the damage you deal with Needle. On the flip side, it also increases the amount of damage you receive.	On a Bug’s corpse in the Sinner’s Road region.
Dead Bug’s Purse	Keep some Rosaries in with you even after dying.	On a Bug’s corpse in the Wormways region.
Shell Satchel	Increases how many crafted tools you can carry.	–
Magnetite Dice	Improves Hornet’s luck.	Defeat Lumble the Lucky repeatedly in the dice minigame to grab this tool.
Scuttlebrace	Allows you to retreat quickly.	The Twelfth Architect can craft it in the Underworks area.
Ascendant’s Grip	You can hold yourself in place when scaling walls.	Buy from Jubilana.
Spider Strings	Needolin effects are strengthened and expanded.	Buy from Jubilana.
Silkspeed Anklets	Uses Silk to increase your sprint speed.	Sprint through the Weavenest Cindril chamber in Far Fields.
Thief’s Mark	Acquire more Rosaries from fallen enemies. However, you’ll also lose some Rosaries when taking damage.	Buy from Grindle.
