The map size of Ghost of Yotei has been revealed, and it is not a significant difference from the first game.

Ghost of Yotei is the next major first-party title from PlayStation Studios and a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. However, it is not a direct follow-up since it takes place 300 years after the adventures of Jin Sakai. Returning players will step into the shoes of Atsu, a vengeful mercenary who will not rest until her family’s killer suffers the same fate.
The developers brought back similar mechanics from the original game, giving a hint about how big this sandbox will be. Fortunately, it will not differ much from the first game. However, it will also feature a fine balance between story and side content.

Ghost of Yotei Will Have the Same Map Size As Ghost of Tsushima

The first game was a huge open-world sandbox, and it had a decent amount of content. In a recent interview with MinnMax, director Nate Fox revealed that Ghost of Yotei will share the same map size as the first game. It is an interesting decision for Sucker Punch Productions to maintain the same size rather than expand it like other traditional sequels.
The video game Yotei map is about the size of the Tsushima video game map.
While the video game interpretation of Tsushima was not accurate, Sucker Punch Productions will likely take the same approach for Ezo. Ghost of Tsushima had plenty of side content between the main missions, which benefited pacing. Perhaps players can explore new areas with the addition of the new navigation system through the shamisen instrument.
Ezo Will Be Big Enough for Main Story Missions and Side Quests
Fox also revealed that the world map will still be split by story acts, similar to the first game, but with a bit more freedom. This could indicate that Atsu can travel to distant areas without restraint or ties to the main story.
