Everything you need to know about the Drone’s (KAPI) skills in Hell Is Us, how to equip them, best use cases, and more.
In Hell Is Us, your Drone, KAPI, is more than just your mobile torch-station and scouting tool. Instead, KAPI has more active uses as well, especially in combat. Furthermore, KAPI has its own set of skills, which you unlock gradually as you progress through the game. Many of these skills are passive benefits, like increasing Remi’s defenses, attack power, or dodging capabilities.
However, some of these skills also have active abilities, such as an AOE ground slam attack that stuns Hollow Walkers, a lunge attack that deals a ton of damage, and more. That said, Drone skills are one major aspect of Hell Is Us’ combat system that isn’t explained all that well.
While you can technically finish the game without using KAPI’s abilities, doing so will increase the difficulty of combat tenfold. To help with that, here’s everything you need to know about the Drone skills in Hell Is Us, and how to equip them.

How To Unlock Drone Skills in Hell Is Us
Drone skills are unlocked automatically when you complete certain story quests. Furthermore, exploring optional locations and completing Good Deeds is also a good way of unlocking the Drone skills. There are a total of 10 Drone skills in Hell Is Us. However, you can obtain more Modules even if you have unlocked all 10 Drone skills. Additional Modules basically “level up” the Grade on a skill. For instance, if you find multiple Berserk Modules, it will simply upgrade the skill up to Grade 3. If you go through the main story, while clearing a handful of Timeloops, you will get all the Drone skills way before you finish Act 2.
Once unlocked, the Drone skills can be equipped via the Inventory. The Drone skills are tied to the right trigger (RT or R2) and executed using the face buttons. You can also swap around the equipped Drone skills, based on your playstyle and preferences.

How To Equip the Drone Skills in Hell Is Us
To equip the Drone skills, you need to head to the Inventory menu, using the OMSIF Codex. Within the Inventory menu, head to the Drone tab. This is where you can equip and inspect all Drone skills. Furthermore, you can also swap skills under this menu.
At any instant, you can only have 4 active skills on the Drone. You can either equip all passive skills or active combat skills. However, we recommend using a mix of both passive and active skills. Ideally, you want to have one passive skill, complemented by three active skills, to dish out damage.
