The Magnetite Dice can be a life-saver during boss fights in Hollow Knight Silksong. Here’s how you can get lucky with it.

The Magnetite Dice in Hollow Knight Silksong is a tool that is acquired in Blasted Steps in two different ways. One is winning the dice game 6 times, and the other is to wait for Lumble to die and drop the dice. The Magnetite Dice has a small chance to negate any damage once from any source. This yellow tool can be a lifesaver during long boss fights, which happen frequently later in Silksong. Here’s how the Magnetite Dice actually works.
How Does the Magnetite Dice Work

The Magnetite Dice has a maximum of ~10% chance to negate damage. However, it is not confirmed to be this percentage officially. On the other hand, from enough experience using this item in Hollow Knight Silksong, the chances of negating damage are random, but it has never happened twice in around 15 hours of gameplay. The Magnetite Dice is first seen in the Blasted Steps with Lumble. He’s a pilgrim who has made it till the Blasted Steps, just before the Grand Gate of the Citadel.
Moreover, the Magnetite Dice can be obtained in two ways: beating Lumble in the Dice Game or taking it from his corpse. The Dice Game requires 4 rosaries to play, and if won, will reward you with 4 rosaries. To win the Dice Game, you must tap the A/X button on consoles and the jump button on your mouse and keyboard when the dice glows first. You have to win the game 6 times until Lumble finally says that he does not have enough rosaries, thus letting you have his dice.
The other method needs a bit of waiting, as Lumble will fall victim to his fatigue slowly. The death triggers once you reach around the middle of Act 2, around the time you ring the Choral Chamber’s Bell. There, on his side, the dice can be picked up by Hornet to aid her through the Citadel.
Why Use the Magnetite Dice?
The Magnetite Dice is similar to Hollow Knight’s Carefree Melody and will negate any source of damage. Given that Hollow Knight Silksong has one too many bosses that deal two damage or more, this item can save you in an unfortunate situation, especially against late-game bosses, who deal massive damage. Turning the dice on the bosses with one item can be cathartic, and items till the middle of Act 2 are not very useful unless you go out to explore more than your arm’s reach.
