The Broodmother is a boss located at the Slab in Hollow Knight Silksong. Here’s how you can beat it easily.
Hollow Knight Silksong has over 40 bosses, and one of them is the Broodmother in the Slab. This boss fight takes place inside a small room and is fairly easy compared to the other bosses. However, it can be really annoying to deal with, as she can also spawn babies to help her. Additionally, the fight includes a gauntlet of four enemy waves before the boss appears, so it is essential to save your tools for later use. Here’s how you can defeat the Broodmother easily.
Broodmother Boss Fight Location
The boss is located in the top-left part of the Slab. You can access this location in two ways: either by getting jailed or by going through Act 2. The jailer in Far Fields will capture Hornet in his cage, and she will lose all of her equipment before finding a way to escape. If you don’t want to go through that, you can simply go to the Citadel and explore until you find the Slab Keys.
However, the Broodmother will only spawn after you take the Wailing Mother Quest from Songclave.
Broodmother Boss Fight Overview
The Broodmother has only a few moves that you need to learn. However, the small room makes those few moves very difficult to avoid with Hornet, especially since she constantly spawns her children during the fight. Here are all the moves she uses:
Gauntlet Mob List
- Wave One: 4x Broodling Spawns
- Wave Two: 1 Broodcane and 3 Spawns
- Wave Three: 1 BroodGuard and 3 Spawns
Broodmother Attacks
- Sluggish Jump: The boss lazily jumps toward Hornet, landing stomach first. Deals one damage.
- Active Jumps: Broodmother jumps in saw waves around the arena. Delas two damage.
- Spit: Broodmother spits two blobs that will remain for 2 seconds in the arena. Deals one damage.
- Broodmother spawns: Broodmother spits out two of her children that will explode if you kill them.
Broodmother Tips and Tricks in Hollow Knight Silksong
The boss has fairly low HP, but you will also have to deal with the mobs she spawns in the arena. Equipping the Cog Fly tool with the Polyp Pouch will help deal good damage without risk. Simply dodge and land a few attacks after she jumps, and deal with the spawns as soon as they appear.
The spawns will explode when killed, so make sure to move constantly between both ends of the arena. Staying in the air and grabbing the walls helps a lot, as your Cog Flies will deal the majority of the damage to the boss.
