Everything you need to know about Metroid Prime 4 Beyond, including its release date, pre-order details, editions, and more.

After years of anticipation, we finally have a confirmed release date for Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. Initially teased back in 2017, Metroid Prime 4 has had a rather lengthy development cycle. While there have been quite a few Metroid games released during the Nintendo Switch generation, nothing tops the excitement surrounding a mainline Metroid Prime. Surprisingly enough, the game is coming out quite soon, in December 2025. However, while Nintendo has made the jump to a whole new console generation, Prime 4 isn’t abandoning the Switch platform.
That said, with the game now featuring two different editions (with different price tags), pre-ordering the game can get quite confusing. To help with that, here’s a comprehensive pre-order guide for Metroid Prime 4 Beyond.

Metroid Prime 4 Beyond is scheduled to be released on December 4, 2025. Although the game’s development began on the Nintendo Switch, it’s also releasing on Switch 2. In fact, the game features a host of exclusive features for the Switch 2 version. Firstly, the Switch 2 version of the game comes with mouse controls. Given the nature of the game as an FPS, mouse controls are going to make it a much more enjoyable experience, especially for players experienced with the genre.
In addition to that, the Switch 2 version also features support for 120fps (docked and handheld). In handheld mode, the game also supports VRR if you’re playing in the 120fps mode. Furthermore, there’s also support for higher resolutions for docked play (up to 4K). That said, the regular Switch version does come with a default 60fps mode.
In addition to that, both Switch and Switch 2 versions of the game come with a revised control scheme, similar to Metroid Prime Remastered.
Metroid Prime 4 Beyond Editions and Prices

Metroid Prime 4 follows a similar pricing structure to Pokémon Legends Z-A. The Nintendo Switch version of the game is priced at the usual $60. Whereas the Switch 2 version of he game is priced at $70. There are no pre-order bonuses for Metroid Prime 4. Additionally, if you purchased the Switch version of the game, you can later upgrade to the Switch 2 version via the Upgrade Pack, albeit at a price. The Upgrade Pack costs $10 and lets you carry over your save from Switch to Switch 2.
