There are multiple ways you can reach Act 2 of Hollow Knight: Silksong, one of which involves facing the hidden boss named Phantom. This challenging fight is hard to conquer and harder to find.

Where To Find Phantom in Hollow Knight Silksong?
Phantom is located in the elusive Exhaust Organ. You need to start from Sinner’s Road and make your way past the mist puzzle. You can learn more about getting through the mist here.
Once you make it past this area, you will be in the Exhaust Organ. Unlock the Bench in the area, and proceed through the tunnels. (Be wary about steam blowing through them frequently.)
Just follow the tunnels without deviating from any branching paths. You will eventually come across a broken elevator/cage blocking your way. Make your way below this level, and break the structure supporting this item.
This will unlock the shortcut to the boss chamber. Now simply head up and left, and you will reach Phantom.
Hollow Knight Silksong: Phantom Boss Fight Overview
Phantom’s boss fight is fun but hard. You might feel that it plays out similarly to Lace. Both bosses are quite small in stature and use a wide range of melee attacks mixed with parries and counters. Here are the moves you should expect:
- Needle Throw: Phantom will throw a needle at you. This can happen while the boss is on the ground or while jumping in the air. Afterwards, Phantom flies to the needle as well to retrieve it.
- Melee Slashes: Phantom lunges forward while delivering two to three slashes. You should jump over and utilize pogo attacks or attack from behind.
- Parry: Phantom raises the needle in a defensive position. You should be wary of attacking while in this state, as Phantom counterattacks by dashing back and forth.
- Dive: Phantom disappears from the screen and dives down to the ground. The area of effect is highlighted, so you should just dodge out. This is the only attack that does 2 masks of damage.
Second Phase
The moveset in this phase does not change. However, the behavior does slightly. This time, Phantom will use the Dive attack mentioned previously more often. The boss will execute this move multiple times in a row before using something else.
How To Beat Phantom in Hollow Knight Silksong: Tips and Tricks
Here are some tips to manage this boss:
- Using the Beast Crest is a good option here, as most of Phantom’s attacks do 1 damage. Therefore, you can outlive the damage dealt to you by using this healing from the Crest.
- Secondly, you track whenever the Needle is thrown to anticipate where Phantom will end up. You can Swift Step over to this location and get in some quick free hits.
- Most of Phantom’s patterns can be easily dodged. You should just stick to a moderate range and wait for it to come to you. Following this, you can dodge and counterattack.
- Pogo attacks are quite effective as most of Phantom’s attacks are horizontal.
