Did you know you can obtain Trobbio’s quills in your inventory in Hollow Knight Silksong? Here’s how you can get them.
In a recent discovery by the Hollow Knight Silksong community, it turns out you can acquire special quills in the game. Other than the one Shakra, the map-maker of the game, sells, you can also acquire Trobbio’s. Furthermore, his variant of the Special Quill is available in two different colors. Here’s how you can get both of them.
Obtaining Trobbio’s Special Quill in Hollow Knight Silksong
You can obtain the special quills in Acts 2 and 3 of Hollow Knight Silksong if you don’t purchase the normal quill from Shakra. You can still purchase the maps, but they won’t show the parts you discover. The quills are found just before Trobbio’s Boss Room inside the Citadel. To obtain the quills, you will need to play through the game until Act 2 to acquire Trobbio’s Quill.
If you play without a quill until Act 3, you can obtain Tormented Trobbio’s purple quill from the same room where you obtain the red one.
The quills don’t have any special advantages over the normal quill. However, it’s a small detail that Team Cherry has added to their world-building. Reaching Act 2 is fairly easy, as you only need the Drifter’s Cloak and Wall Grip. After that, you can either find enough fleas to go with the Flea Caravan or defeat the Last Judge Boss in the Blasted Steps.
Reaching Act 3, however, is recommended for a second playthrough, as it is long and requires completing many quests. You can find Trobbio and Tormented Trobbio in their area, called The Stage. You can access The Stage through the Whispering Vaults. Exploring the area will open a door that unlocks another path from the Choral Chambers.
Trobbio and His Torment
Trobbio is a boss that Hornet meets in The Stage. The version in Act 2 is one that wants to save the world with his performances. However, Act 3 presents an opposite version. Hornet mentions in her journal that Tormented Trobbio has lost all hope in a dying world. This torment is reflected in their boss fight, which is one of the hardest in Hollow Knight Silksong.
What could have been a simple boss fight in the game is elevated by a minor detail most players might not notice. However, Team Cherry has included this change of color and style of the quills for players who always ask questions.
