1. Dual Routes

In the original, you could only start from the House of Hades and go upwards. This path eventually ended once you reached the surface. However, Hades 2 further expands upon this immensely. Now, you can choose one route that goes downwards, ending at the House of Hades. Meanwhile, the other has you climb the surface until you reach Mount Olympus.
This adds some variety to your runs, so you don’t feel tired running through the same rooms again.
2. Main Character

Zagreus was the protagonist of the first game. His role is being played by his younger sister this time around, Melinoe. Being a completely different character, Melinoe also has a completely different moveset and fighting style. She weaves her magic together with her attacks to smash apart enemy formations. Even her Nocturnal Arms are different from the original game’s Infernal Arms.
3. Boons and Gods

Many gods and goddesses return for the sequel; however, at the same time, there are many that have not been seen before. Some examples of this include Hera, Apollo, and Hestia, to name a few. Apart from the new gods, the boons themselves have also been revamped. Some are new, while others have been changed or removed.
4. Story and Tone

Hades 2 is noticeably darker than its prequel. Zagreus’ story revolved around breaking out of the Underworld in search of his mother on the surface. Hades does not have the same role that Chronos does.
Chronos is a much more evil villain compared to the likes of Hades. The Titan of Time has been responsible for the capturing of not just Melinoe’s family, but also a number of other side characters from the original game.
Hades had a more lighthearted tone, while the sequel has a darker war taking place. Olympus is under siege from the combined forces of Chronos and Typhon, all while Melinoe struggles to kill Time itself.
Allies and Companions

The circle of companions in both games is mostly different, with very few reprising roles. Skelly is one of the only characters who has the same role. Moreover, Melinoe can also recruit familiars who help her out various times during every run. Apart from this, Nyx was your main benefactor in the original, while Hecate plays a similar role for Melinoe in this one.
Moreover, you’re joined by many of Nyx’s children, like Moros, Nemesis, and Eris. This was all still during Early Access, and the full release could have more surprises in store for us. These were five of the major differences found between Hades 2 and Hades.
