Discover how to locate and defeat Shadowpelt in Borderlands 4, counter its invisibility mechanics, and earn Legendary rewards.

Shadowpelt is a challenging and somewhat hidden boss in Borderlands 4. It can switch between elements, leap to dodge attacks, and use invisibility, making it one of the toughest optional bosses in the game. Despite its difficulty, farming Shadowpelt is worth it for its Legendary drops.
Borderlands 4: Shadowpelt Boss Location

Shadowpelt is situated deep within Whistler’s Maw, an Abandoned Auger Mine in the Cuspid Climb region of the Terminus Range. After arriving at its entrance, climb up the rocks and head into the mine. Drop into the hole and follow the tunnel until you arrive in an icy cavern. You are free to run past any enemies to reach the boss directly. Double jump off the rock outcrop ahead and climb the ladder on the left (north) side. When you hit a dead end past the Manglers, destroy the explosive crate to clear a path ahead.
Take the right-hand path and use the grappling hook on the lamp post in the following cavern. Glide to the far end of the cavern and grapple the grate to clear the obstruction ahead. Here, you’ll find a checkpoint and two vending machines to help prepare for the Shadowpelt boss fight awaiting you.

How To Beat Shadowpelt Boss in Borderlands 4

Shadowpelt is a tricky adversary who uses invisibility, precise projectile attacks, and AoE abilities. However, it has a fairly limited set of attacks, and you can easily anticipate its next move. Here are some tips to easily beat Shadowpelt:
- Shadowpelt starts the battle by using invisibility. Destroy its shield to remove invisibility.
- Once the shield is destroyed, Shadowpelt will use Invisibility again in about 15 seconds and regain its shield.
- Use Shock Damage when Shadowpelt is invisible to quickly deplete its shield.
- Switch to a high DPS weapon when Shadowpelt loses its shield, as you have a brief window to damage its health bar.
- Shadowpelt’s orb attacks can switch between different element types.
- The boss is highly mobile, so wait until it stops moving before using powerful attacks. The best time to land guaranteed hits is while it charges an Orb Volley or when its shield breaks.
- Shadowpelt’s weak spot is its head.
