The Pin Badge can make charged attacks significantly more effective during combat in Hollow Knight Silksong. Here’s how to obtain it.
The Pin Badge in Hollow Knight Silksong is a tool that you can obtain during Act 3 in your playthrough. It is a Blue tool that decreases the time required to make charged attacks using the Needle Strike.
Charged attacks in Silksong are slow, leaving you unable to do anything except move while charging. Therefore, the Pin Badge becomes a handy tool if you are using certain Crests that have stronger charged attacks that hit multiple times in one move.
To help you out, here’s how to get the Pin Badge in Hollow Knight Silksong.
Location of Pin Badge in Hollow Knight Silksong
The Pin Badge in Silksong is found after defeating the Pinstress in a duel during Act 3. You can find the Pinstress on Mount Fay after accepting the Fatal Resolve quest from Bellhart. However, you also need to have the Needle Strike skill unlocked by talking to the Pinstress in Blasted Steps for the quest to appear.
After you accept the quest, go to the Pinstress’s house in Blasted Steps and read the note on her table. The note mentions she is waiting for you somewhere on Mount Fay, but does not specify where. To reach her exact location, parkour your way to the top of Mount Fay, where you get the Faydown Cloak, and jump to the spot marked on the map above. Lastly, talk to the Pinstress to start the duel.

Best Uses of Pin Badge in Hollow Knight Silksong
As mentioned before, the Pin Badge works best with charged attacks that deal multiple instances of damage in one move. Because Hornet has different move sets for each Crest, the Pin Badge is only practical for a few. Here are some examples:
- Wanderer’s Crest: When Hornet is using this Crest, her charged attack turns into a flurry of strikes that each deal damage separately. She is essentially hitting multiple regular melee hits at once during her Needle Strike. Therefore, this is one of the best uses of the Pin Badge.
- Architect’s Crest: When using Needle Strike with this Crest, the charged attack turns Hornet into a drill that deals upwards to 91 damage with a maxed-out needle. This turns the Architect into one of the highest damage-dealing Crests in the game.
- Witch’s Crest: The Needle Strike with Witch’s Crest has a hidden mechanic that the game does not mention at all. If you spam the attack button after using the charged attack, it increases the number of hits dealt. Therefore, you can do a maximum of 102 damage with a proper Needle Strike and max-level Needle.
