Learn about the Pokemon TCG Mega Evolution pull rates and your chances to get an Illustration Rare or a Mega Hyper Rare.
Just like in the Black Bolt/White Flare expansion, the Mega Evolution expansion introduced a new rarity. This new tier of rarity, called Mega Hyper Rare, replaces the Hyper Rare tier of cards. So, in this article we will look at the pull rates of an average Booster Pack from this set and your chances to actually get one of these cards.

As per TCGplayer, the chances of getting a Mega Hyper Rare is once in 1260 packs. For comparison, you would need to open 35 Booster Boxes, each of which costs approximately $300. Note that opening Booster Packs would be cheaper, as an average Mega Evolution Booster Pack costs around $17.
However, besides Mega Hyper Rares, it should be easier to get other cards of higher rarity. As there are fewer Double Rares compared to the last full expansion, Destined Rivals, finding a specific card of that rarity should be easier. Additionally, Ultra Rare and Illustration Rare cards have shown up more often in this set.

As you can see, getting a specific Double Rare is relatively easy. However, on the flip side, getting both Mega Hyper Rares will need you to get approximately over 3000 Booster Packs!
Still, if you are willing to purchase Booster Packs, these pull rates should not discourage you. After all, these are randomized packs, and you could get lucky. Manage your expectations and don’t overspend in search for a specific card.
