Reach Ascension Tower and defeat the Timekeeper in Borderlands 4’s ‘The Timekeeper’s Order’ main story mission.
‘The Timekeeper’s Order’ is the 20th and penultimate main mission in Borderlands 4, leading to a showdown with the Timekeeper himself. The mission picks up right after ‘Plan Z,’ where the Vault Hunter breaks into the Upper Dominion to reach Ascension Tower.
Battle through waves of Order forces to ascend to the top of the tower, where the Timekeeper stands guard over the Vault.

Reach Ascension Tower
Proceed to the golden beam ahead to ascend through the tower. The elevator that materializes around you will be flooded with poisonous gas. Shoot the glass walls or floor to drop down and escape. Use your grappling hook on the vent grate on the north wall and climb up the platforms. Double jump and glide over the gap ahead and use the jump pad.
Double jump and glide across the suspended platforms while avoiding flying vehicles. Use the grappling hook on the point located high up on the western wall and make your way over the debris. Scale the wall ahead, and you’ll reach a barrier. Avoid the beam fired from the tower and drop down to the lower level when the glass breaks. Head through the open door on the right until you reach a gap. Use the grappling hook to get onto the platform, and use the double jump into glide combo to reach the other side.
Kill all the enemies ahead, at the guarded door. Interact with the tower door to open it and ascend. Once you enter the tower, stock up on supplies using the vending machines, and prepare for the game’s final boss fight.

Defeat the Timekeeper
- The Timekeeper has three health bars: shield, armor, and health. Damage them effectively with Shock, Corrosive, and Incendiary weapons, respectively.
- The boss can use temporal powers to slow your movement speed, create duplicates, and reverse your health regeneration. Single out the real Timekeeper from the duplicates by using your ECHO device.
- Stay mobile and jump to avoid his many AoE attacks.
Defeat Guardian Timekeeper
After depleting all three of the Timekeeper’s health bars, he will transform into the monstrous Guardian Timekeeper. This massive form comes with new and more powerful attacks to be aware of.
- The boss creates rifts that pull you toward them, limiting movement in their AoE.
- When his shield is depleted, the Guardian Timekeeper will electrify the floor. Use your grappling hook to jump onto a platform to avoid the attack.
- He launches Temporal Spheres that deal lingering damage at their impact sites.
- The boss can hit you with Chronal Bolts to increase your Action Skill’s cooldown time.
Rescue Kairos
Once you’ve defeated the Guardian Timekeeper, interact with his remains to begin the final cutscene. This cutscene concludes ‘The Timekeeper’s Order’ and leads into the final mission, ‘Secrets of the Vault.’
