The Imminent Jest is a side mission where you get to prank two brothers in Borderlands 4. Here’s how you can locate and finish this quest.
The Imminent Jest in Borderlands 4 is a fun yet straightforward side mission that you can take on in the Lopside region, which is in Carcadia Burn. To start the quest, you have to talk to Jankus, an NPC with disproportionate arms. You can find him outside his house on a cliff in the western section of Wallowing Heights in Lopside.
After you accept Crankus’s quest, he asks you to prank his brother, Crankus. Moreover, you won’t have to go far, as his house is right in the middle of The Yawning Yard, above the area where the road splits. Here’s what you have to do to progress the Imminent Jest side mission in Borderlands 4.

Prank Crankus
Once you reach Crankus’s house, “Villa-de-Cranku”, you can see him standing outside with a large glowing pipe above his head. Your objective is to shoot the pipe to release all the contents of the waste bin onto his head. Doing so earns you applause from Crankus, and he asks you to prank his brother in return. This switches the mission objective to pranking Jankus.
Prank Jankus
Follow your mission marker and head to Jankus’s home to prank him back. At the top of his house, you can see an AC unit that you must pull down using your Grappling Hook. After you do so, Jankus runs out of his home with his body on fire while complaining about the heat. After he runs into a cave, return to Crankus’ house to finish up the quest.

Survive the Final Prank
After you travel back to Crankus’s house, you find that Jankus catching on fire was fake, and the entire thing has been a prank on you all along. However, the brothers now have to pull a final prank that involves killing and selling your pieces in the Black Market. This turns both brothers hostile, and you must defeat them. Here are some tips:
- Jankus charges at you with his huge hammer, so quickly get away from his melee range.
- Crankus has a basic rifle that shoots out bolts that you can outrun.
- Target Crankus and bring him down while running away from Jankus. Lastly, after you take care of the ranged attacker, you easily take down the melee brute.
Due to this being quite an easy mission, you won’t get much for a reward except some Cash and XP. However, the brothers can drop some additional loot after you kill them.
