The ‘Bait And The Beast’ quest in Dying Light The Beast is the main quest that begins right after you complete Cries Trapped In The Walls. It’s one of the final quests in the game, leading to the epic finale. In this mission, Kyle will finally have to draw out The Beast, a mysterious hybrid infected who has strength matching Kyle’s. In the following guide, we’ll explore how you can go about completing this particular mission.
Walkthrough for The Bait And The Beast Quest in Dying Light The Beast
Enter the E&F Plant To Acquire Two Gas Canisters
Lydia will inform you that you’ll need to get your hands on two of the red gas canisters, which help bait Chimeras. These canisters will eventually lure The Beast to you. For that, you’ll need to head into the E&F Plant. This is the location where A New Strain quest took place. You’ll once again have to head inside and reach the basement. However, this time around, the basement area has a Volatile roaming around. So, you’ll have to carefully sneak in and out a couple of times to acquire the red gas canisters.
Carry each of the gas canisters to the marked spot just outside the hole in the factory wall. When you place two canisters in the designated spot, a cutscene triggers. During this scene, you’ll see Lydia and the others arriving, which triggers the next part of The Bait And The Beast quest in Dying Light The Beast.
Driving With the Gas Canister
The next part of the The Bait And The Beast quest involves you loading up one of the canisters in a pickup truck and driving it to a designated location. You’ll have to do this before the timer runs out. During that time, you’ll need to hit 27 checkpoints along the way. You don’t need to worry about fuel during this sequence. And the last checkpoint leads you inside a cave.
Fighting The Beast
After reaching the cave, a cutscene plays that shows The Beast attacking your vehicle as both of you plunge inside the cave. During this cutscene, Lydia asks you not to kill it but to simply get its attention. She’ll try to dive into The Beast’s consciousness. And, with that, the battle begins.
First Phase
When the encounter begins, you only have one melee weapon and a limited number of heals. Lydia will try to get into the enemy’s mind, but she won’t be successful. Instead, she’ll ask you to damage and weaken it so she can take control. One thing you ought to know here is that The Beast fight is similar to other Chimera boss fights. However, he can eliminate you in just a couple of hits, even if you’re above the recommended level for the quest.
During the first phase, avoid as many of the lunging and jumping attacks from him as you can. The strategy should be to get in a couple of shots and then dodge out of the way of incoming strikes. Manage your stamina and be patient.
When The Beast shrieks, quickly get in close and attack a few times, as he’s defenseless in this state. We suggest not using your Beast Mode during this portion.
Second Phase
After draining a quarter of his health, Lydia will try to gain control of The Beast again. However, she’ll fail again, leaving you to weaken the enemy further. After a cutscene, the second phase will begin. Besides his earlier attacks, The Beast will have a couple of new tricks up his sleeves. The first new attack is him pounding the ground to send devastating shockwaves in front of him. The other type of attack is when he grabs you and pivots you to the ground. Thankfully, you can easily escape both these attacks if you’re cautious and maintain a bit of distance.
You should engage in Beast Mode during this phase. Your attacks will do much more damage with it active, but keep in mind that you won’t be invulnerable to incoming damage. Keep following these strategies to get the boss down to 10% of his total HP. This will trigger a cutscene, and Lydia will finally manage to grapple control over The Beast. She’ll head off with him to the Exiled Cave, bringing the The Bait And The Beast quest in Dying Light The Beast to a close.
