Hybrid Combat Specialty in Black Ops 7 explained. Discover the new Perk system and how it changes the Multiplayer experience.

Hybrid Combat Specialty in Black Ops 7 is a new feature introduced within the Perk system. In Black Ops 6, when players equip three Perks that belong to the same category (Red, Green, or Blue), they earn a Combat Specialty (Enforcer, Strategist, or Recon). When any Combat Specialty is active, they acquire a few additional benefits in-game. However, if even one of those three Perks isn’t from the same category, then the Combat Specialty doesn’t become active, and they lose out on all the extra benefits.
This system is changing with Black Ops 7. With Hybrid Combat Specialty, players will now also be able to attain some benefits if they equip two Perks from the same category. Check out the section below to learn more.
How Does Hybrid Combat Specialty in Black Ops 7 Work
Hybrid Combat Specialty in Black Ops 7 will become active when players equip two Perks of the same category, with the third from a different class. They are:
- Scout (Red and Blue Perks)
- Tactician (Red and Green Perks)
- Operative (Blue and Green Perks)
To understand this better, let’s take the example of the Tactician Hybrid Combat Specialty. To earn it, you must equip two Red Perks with the third being Green, or equip two Green Perks with the third being Red. You can equip these Perks in any slot as long as you fulfill the criteria to earn the Specialty.
It’s worth noting here that Core Combat Specialties as seen in Black Ops 6, aren’t being removed. They will co-exist with the Hybrid system, giving users more freedom over how they wish to play the game.

You might now be wondering what benefits one earns from doing so. Well, if the Tactician Hybrid Combat Specialty is active, any time you earn assists in a match, you’ll also earn bonus score from bullet eliminations for the next ten seconds.
Similarly, the Scout Hybrid Combat Specialty keeps you hidden from the enemy minimaps for five seconds immediately after a bullet elimination. The timer can be reset with more eliminations during this period. To activate it, you must equip any two Blue or Red Perks, with the third being Red or Blue, respectively.
Lastly, we have the Operative Hybrid Combat Specialty. To enable this Specialty, you must equip at least two Blue or Green Perks, with the third Perk being a Green or Blue one, respectively. With it activated, you can recharge your Field Upgrades faster by getting stealthy eliminations.
That covers just about everything that you need to know about the new Hybrid Combat Specialty system. With it in the title, players will now have more control of their loadouts than ever. The ability to gain extra benefits from equipping two Perks from the same category was missing in Black Ops 6. It being included in the upcoming game is certainly a welcome change. Moving forward, each match will be more personalized and tailored to the players’ experience.
