You don’t have to tweak every little thing in EA FC 26. Unless you are going for pure competitive gameplay, you will want as minimal change as possible. This is particularly important if you are new to the game and want a smoother gameplay experience.

To help you out, here are six settings you need to change before playing the game:

  • Precision Shooting
  • Tactical Defending
  • Cross Assistance = Semi
  • Lobbed Pass = Semi
  • Auto Switch = Air & Loose balls
  • Auto Switch Assistance = Low
  • Scrolling lineups = OFF
  • Hold to Skip = OFF

Precision Shooting

Setting Shot Assistance to Precision replaces full assistance with manual aiming. This gives you more control over shot placement and power.

Tactical Defending

This mode makes defensive inputs simpler by letting the AI choose the correct tackle or action. It’s a good way to train yourself on how to play the game without overwhelming yourself with manual defense plays.

Cross Assistance = Semi

Setting your Cross Assistance to Semi will allow you to microscale your control over cross power and aiming. On top of that, this option will provide a safety net when timing or if your angle is off.

Lobbed Pass = Semi

It’s the same logic as Semi Cross Assistance. The Lobbed Pass, when set in Semi, helps with arc and distance. On top of that, you still have more control than full assist. This reduces mistakes when passing or overhits in transition plays.

Auto Switch = Air & Loose balls

This option will let your controller auto-switch only on aerial duels or loose balls. This lets you maintain control during structured build-up. This also prevents blind mistakes when there is too much action happening on the screen.

Auto Switch Assistance = Low

Setting Auto Switch to Low will let you make manual switches that carry weight. In this option, the AI will only provide minimal assistance in tight moments like catching tricky transitions.
