There are a plethora of weapons in Dying Light The Beast for you to collect and use. With many of these supporting upgrades, you can essentially keep using your favorite one throughout the campaign. However, some of these are clearly better than others.

And, when you’re constantly under attack from the infected and human enemies, you’ll want to arm yourself with only the most reliable armaments. In the following guide, we’ll list the five weapons we feel stand out from the rest and allow you to do the most damage consistently.

Top 5 Weapons in Dying Light The Beast

The following are the five weapons we feel every player should own and use in the game.

  • Lizzy, the Hunting Crossbow
  • The Needle SMG
  • The Elite Pistol
  • The Goose Two-Handed Hammer
  • Military Shotgun

Now, let’s take a look at the capabilities of each of these weapons and how you can unlock them.

1. Lizzy, the Hunting Crossbow

You will be able to unlock the Hunting Crossbow weapon very late into the game, during a quest named Hunting Yaga. We suggest reaching around level 10 or 11 before taking on the quest. You’ll also have to unlock the Abandoned House Safe Zone in the National Park region. After that, speak with Max to begin this quest.

At the end of it, you’ll get the Hunting Crossbow weapon, Lizzy. It’s a silent ranged weapon that’s extremely powerful and deals very high damage. You can take out most human and infected enemies with mostly one shot. Since the weapon doesn’t generate any sounds, unlike most firearms, it won’t draw the attention of other Infected in the area. However, you’ll need to use it sparingly since crafting its ammo requires Feathers, which are a rare resource.

2. The Needle SMG

Delve deep into the Forest Ranger Station in the National Park region to grab this legendary SMG. So, it’s an early game unlock that you can acquire during the A1 Treasure Hunt. During this quest, you’ll need to power up a garage door by connecting a few wires. All the while, you’ll also have to fend off any infected that attacks you. However, all that effort is absolutely worth it.

Partly why the weapon is so great is that it’s a ranged weapon that deals immense damage. With constant upgrades, you can ensure that the gun scales alongside you. Furthermore, due to its minimal noise generation, the weapon is safe to use when you don’t want to draw the attention of every Viral in the area.

3. The Elite Pistol

This is another ranged weapon that you simply must acquire if you’re looking for high-powered guns. To find it, simply go to the bridge that overlooks the Monastery. There, you’ll have to take down several infected, grab a keycard from one of them, turn on a generator, and then connect its cable to a terminal in a nearby train car. Once you do all that, you can swipe the picked-up keycard at the door locked by the electronic lock.

Inside, you will discover ‘The Elite Pistol,’ alongside some ammo. The gun’s precision and high base damage make it a worthwhile addition to your collection, and one that you can use frequently.

4. The Goose Two-Handed Hammer

If you’re looking for a weapon to deal damage at close range, we’ll suggest opting for the epic two-handed hammer, named The Goose. It is the perfect weapon if you rely quite a lot on parkour-based strikes because it offers a +250% damage bonus to all such attacks. Now, you can just imagine finding a swarm of Infected standing underneath as you swing down with this hammer.

To get this particular hammer, you’ll need to find an abandoned house to the northeast of the Town Hall in Old Town. Proceed down a set of stairs and open the locked door of the house’s basement using your picks. Inside, take down a couple of Infected and pick up the epic two-handed weapon from a bench.

5. Military Shotgun

Inside the Mental Asylum, head to an underpass area to locate a few military trucks. You can get inside one of these using a security keycard. This is a pump-action weapon that can obliterate both human enemies and infected when they are at close range. So, if you’re being chased by a host of them, you can quickly take a few out and prevent yourself from getting overwhelmed.

The weapon is also great for combat indoors, especially when you don’t need to worry about the loud noise that the firearm makes.
