In this guide, we’ll explore the consequences of saving Lucy or letting Selby kill Lucy in Dying Light The Beast.
You’ll get to decide the fate of several characters during the game, one of whom is Lucy in Dying Light The Beast. You arrive at this difficult decision as part of the Chain Reaction quest. What you choose will impact whether Lucy makes it out alive or if she dies. However, since the choice you make doesn’t have long-term repercussions, you don’t really have to worry about missing out on anything either way. Let’s take a broader look at the quest and the choice you need to make regarding Lucy’s fate.
What’s the Chain Reaction Quest?
Talk with Selby in the Exiles’ Cave to begin the Chain Reaction quest. She’ll ask you to head to a camping park nearby to intercept the handover of chemicals by the Baron’s men. When you get there, however, you won’t find any of the men. Instead, you’ll find a few canisters leaking red gas. This will draw in an infinite number of infected in the area. So, rather than fighting the zombies, we suggest thinning them out and then closing the valves on all of the canisters. Once you do that and take care of any stragglers, you can head inside the house to meet a survivor named Lucy.
After speaking to her, head to the outpost she mentions. Eliminate all of the enemies guarding the place and grab the fuel from inside the house. On your way back to Lucy, Selby asks you not to return. You’ll have a minute and a half to make your way back, so make sure to use a vehicle. Once back in the house, you’ll find Lucy and Selby in a heated argument in one of the rooms.
A cutscene plays where you’ll see Selby pointing a gun at Lucy, and as this scene ends, you’ll get to make the decision that impacts Lucy’s fate.
What Should You Decide About Lucy in Dying Light the Beast?
You will be able to choose whether you want to save Lucy in Dying Light The Beast or whether you want Selby to go ahead and kill her. The choice you make won’t impact any of the other quests in the game. Similarly, you won’t get different rewards based on the path you take. So, this choice is purely for role-playing purposes. This is what happens depending on your choice.
Save Lucy
If you decide to give Lucy another chance, Selby won’t shoot her and the quest will come to an end. You won’t meet Lucy again throughout the rest of the campaign. Speaking with Selby, you’ll just notice that she’s a bit disappointed in the decision you made. However, you will receive 2x Legendary Manual Pages and 10,000 XP for quest completion.
Kill Lucy
If you allow Selby to take her revenge, she’ll shoot and kill Lucy right then and there. Afterwards, speaking to Selby reveals that she’s pleased with your decision. However, making her happy doesn’t seem to have any long-term benefits. You’ll receive the same 2x Legendary Manual Pages and 10,000 XP for completing the quest.
