Marvel’s Wolverine is shaping up to be another epic superhero adventure by Insomniac Games. The superhero genre has had some ups and downs in this interactive medium, but the people behind this project have shown and proven plenty. After the success of the Spider-Man games, Insomniac Games clearly knows how to handle these different characters.

Both the Spider-Men and Wolverine are Marvel characters and are developed by Insomniac Games, which would make one believe they exist on the same Earth. The Marvel multiverse is vast, and the developers have confirmed that all these heroes live on a shared Earth, designated as Earth-1048.

Insomniac Games started their humble gaming universe with everyone’s favorite web-crawler, but this was an opportunity to flesh out their iteration of a shared universe. Similar to the live-action films and television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this will be a similar take, just in a video game format. It would make sense to have Marvel’s Wolverine exist on the same Earth or universe as the existing games to establish their world and for brand synergy.

Perhaps this upcoming adventure with the fan-favorite X-Man could set up a potential crossover with other characters, such as the Avengers.

As established in Marvel’s Spider-Man games, there are other heroes residing on this Earth. Heroes like the Avengers exist and are notably absent during intense battles in New York. Their headquarters, Avengers Tower, is an iconic landmark, as is the Fantastic Four’s Baxter Building.

If all of these heroes and characters exist in the same world, then there is room for mutants to thrive alongside them. There is no telling if Wolverine will visit the Big Apple himself in his upcoming solo adventure, but fans can expect many more X-Men-related characters to be referenced or appear in Earth-1048.
