1) Gumshoos Illustration Rare

The Illustration Rare of Gumshoos is telling a fantastic story. For those not aware of it, Gumshoos is based on a police detective. Additionally, it is known to prey on Rattata. So in the card, we can see a Gumshoos stalking a Rattata. But we can also see what appears to be mugshots of a Rattata on the wall. So in this card, Gumshoos is hunting Rattata both as a predator would its prey and as a police officer would a criminal.

2) Ivysaur Illustration Rare

The Illustration Rare of Ivysaur is quite beautiful. While the rest of the line also has similar artwork, the one for Ivysaur stands out. In this card, we can see Ivysaur using Vine Whip in front of a garden of flowers. Additionally, the whipping has also caused petals to fly out.

3) Vulpix Illustration Rare

The Vulpix card showcases how Pokemon have changed the world they live in, besides being used for mundane utility instead of battles. Here, we see Vulpix is using a Fire-type move to light a fire for a stove. The setting appears to be a kitchen, where a pot of water is currently being set to boil. A light-hearted depiction of a world with these wonderful creatures.

4) Marshadow Illustration Rare

We have another card that has a Pokemon stalking another. In this Illustration Rare, we see franchise mascot Pikachu looking at the camera. Except we can see its shadow extended behind it. And we can see Marshadow emerging from Pikachu’s shadow, sporting a devilish smile. The setting is a forest clearing with numerous trees.

5) Mega Lucario Ex Special Illustration Rare

Frankly, the Special Illustration Rares of Mega Evolution have been mostly ok at best. Except for Mega Lucario ex who has a lovely Special Illustration Rare illustrated by Atsushi Furusawa. In this card, we can see Mega Lucario battling with Mega Venusaur. Venusaur has used Vine Whip, while Lucario is prepping to use an attack concentrated around its fist. However, they aren’t the only Mega Pokemon in the card. In the background, we can see Mega Abomasnow, Mega Manectric, Mega Latias, Mega Mawile, and Mega Kangaskhan in what appears to be a battle royale. All of these Megas are featured in the Mega Evolution set. And as Mega Lucario ex is one of its faces, as well as potentially one of the best cards of the set, it makes sense for them to be featured here.
