Discover the location and unlock conditions for the Core Observer boss in Borderlands 4, along with its weaknesses and Legendary rewards.
The Core Observer is an Order Bunker boss that functions like a large Seeker drone with Shock weapons and bombs. The boss is relatively easy to defeat, which makes it an ideal target for farming Legendary gear. You will also need to beat the Core Observer at UVH 2 to meet the conditions for unlocking UVH 3.
Borderlands 4: Core Observer Location
The Core Observer is located at the end of the Blacklime Order Bunker in The Howl area of the Fadefields region. To unlock Order Bunkers in Borderlands 4, you have to complete the 5th main story mission, ‘One Fell Swoop.’ Fast-travel to the Shut-Eye Keep Safehouse and head southwest to reach the Blacklime Order Bunker.
How To Beat Core Observer Boss in Borderlands 4
- The Core Observer stays airborne throughout the fight, putting melee builds at a disadvantage.
- The boss’s weak spot is its central eye. Target it to land critical hits.
- The Core Observer has three health bars: Shield, Armor, and Shield again. You can use Shock or Radiation damage to lower its shields and employ Corrosive or Cryo damage to melt through the armor.
- Stay on the move to dodge most of the Core Observer’s attacks, such as its barrage of bullets.
- The Core Observer launches a cluster of bombs that can deal significant damage. You can shoot the bombs from a distance or dash away to avoid taking damage from them.
- When at low health, the Core Observer begins to spin and fire projectiles all over the arena. You can take cover during this attack or tank it if you have the health and repkit charges to spare.
- The boss spawns small drones, which you can destroy to get a Second Wind if you are downed.

Core Observer Legendary Drops and Rewards
The Core Observer features three Legendary drops in its loot pool. If it doesn’t drop what you’re looking for, repeat the boss fight using Moxxi’s Big Encore machine at the end of the Blacklime Order Bunker. The red chest past the boss room respawns every time you fight the boss. Make sure to open it, as you might end up finding additional Legendary gear inside.
