Borderlands 4: Forgive Me Secret Mission Walkthrough
To begin ‘Forgive Me,’ head to Cuspid Climb in southeast Terminus Range and follow the river south until you reach a waterfall pouring out of a giant monster’s skull. Kill the Badass Melic Psycho enemy inside the cave, and pick up the Desecrated Bolt he drops to start ‘Forgive Me.’
Find Zanzibart’s Final Resting Place
The first objective isn’t marked on the map, and you’ll have to travel to Stoneblood Forest in the northwest corner of Terminus Range. Reach the cliff marked on the map image above, and you’ll find a tall pole with a grapple point. Use the grappling hook on the point to launch yourself to the cave entrance on the right side. Head into the cave to find Zanzibart’s final resting place.
Lay Zanzibart’s Bolt to Rest
Once inside the cave, interact with the altar to place Zanzibart’s bolt on it. Doing so will spawn an apparition called “Cursed Myrmidon of the Cruel Dawn.” When you kill the miniboss, he dissipates, saying that he has fulfilled his oath.
Hearken to Vycarias’ tale
Soon after you’ve defeated Myrmidon, Vycarias the Lore-Singer will appear and offer to reveal Zanzibart’s mystery. Vycarias begins to narrate an epic tale of grand proportions. His narration will last roughly eight minutes, and if you manage to sit through the otherworldly story until the end, ‘Forgive Me’ is completed.

Borderlands 4: Forgive Me Easter Egg Explained
There is no major reward waiting for you at the end of ‘Forgive Me.’ After hearing Vycarias’ entire story, you will receive 1,250 cash, 1 Eridium, and some XP.
The quest serves as an easter egg for Zanzibart, a meme spawned in Borderlands 3 when one of the game’s writers, Sam Winkler, joked about the storytelling style of Dark Souls games through a tweet. His tweet read:
“Dark Souls revolutionized games, in the sense that instead of a story now you can just have some guy with a big sword named Myrmidon of Loss who gasps “Zanzibart… forgive me” when he dies, and then twenty YouTubers will make an hour long video about how deep your lore is.”
Although he was joking, Sam Winkler’s tweet sparked a debate that pulled in both franchises’ fandoms. ‘Forgive Me’ continues the writer’s jest about Soulsborne games’ storytelling by giving you little context and no guidance about the side quest. Then, when you complete the quest and wonder what it was about, Vycarias the Lore-Singer appears—presumably acting out the part of a lore YouTuber—and gives you a detailed explanation about the backdrop of Zanzibart’s tale.
