Meganium is used because of its ability, Wild Growth. Thanks to this ability, a single Basic Grass Energy will provide as much energy as two of them. Basically, this cuts the energy requirements of any Grass-type move in half. Hydrapple ex and Teal Mask Ogerpon ex are the biggest beneficiaries here.
The former deals more damage for each Grass Energy attached to all of your Pokemon, which is now doubled thanks to Wild Growth. Meanwhile, Teal Mask Ogerpon ex can attach a Basic Grass Energy to itself from your hand, racking up Energy counts quickly.

- Max Rod, Night Stretcher, and Superior Energy Retrieval are great for recovering any lost Grass Energy.
- Toedscruel is useful to prevent your opponent from getting any cards from their discard pile.

Are There Other Cards That Work Well With Meganium?
Toedscruel ex functions in a similar manner to Meganium. However, as it relies on the number of Pokemon rather than Energy, its damage ceiling isn’t as high as Hydrapple ex. It still deals a lot of damage, and its ability prevents the effects of attacks from affecting any of your Pokemon.
