Over the last few Pokemon VGC Regionals, it has been interesting to notice a few trends. One of those was the rise in weather teams, with Rain, Sand, Sun, and Snow all seeing high usage. However, in the second online Trainer Challenge held by Victory Road, it has been Snow that has dominated the Top Cut. Five of the eight teams all had Alolan Ninetales on them. Rain still placed high as one of the Top 4, with the runner up being Pelipper. So we will take a look at the best of them in this article.

The Best Pokemon VGC Teams From the Second September Challenge

5) Zachary Weed’s Pokemon VGC September Challenge Team (Rillaboom, Magmar, Kingambit, Sneasler, Alolan Ninetales, and Basculegion)

Zachary Weed took his team to eighth place at the second September Challenge. Besides Alolan Ninetales, he had a core of Rillaboom and Sneasler. The former sets up Grassy Surge, while the latter benefits from it as it activates its held Grassy Seed. Additionally, once Sneasler’s item is used, its Acrobatics becomes more powerful. It can even Terastallize into a Flying-type to give it a STAB boost.

4) Roberto Parente’s Pokemon VGC September Challenge Team (Indeedee-F, Espathra, Kingambit, Sneasler, Hydreigon, and Hisuian Arcanine)

Roberto Parente went with a team focused around Psychic Terrain. He, of course, had Indeedee-F to set it up. His team also had Espathra with Expanding Force for powerful Psychic STAB and Sneasler with a Psychic Seed. There were also some interesting picks in Hydreigon and Hisuian Arcanine.

3) Federico Camporesi’s Pokemon VGC September Challenge Team (Whimsicott, Incineroar, Gholdengo, Archaludon, Pelipper, and Basculegion)

Federico Camporesi brings a Rain team to this challenge. Naturally, Pelipper is here to set the rain, and both Archaludon and Basculegion benefit from it. He also has Prankster Whimsicott for priority support and Tera Fighting Gholdengo for unresisted STAB against most of the meta.

2) Samuel Pereira’s Pokemon VGC September Challenge Team (Sinistcha, Dragonite, Gholdengo, Archaludon, Pelipper, and Ursaluna)

Another Rain team, this time by Samuel Pereira, who was the runner-up. While he had a Pelipper and Archaludon as expected, he also had a Tera Water Gholdengo with Tera Blast. Additionally, he had some staples like a Dragonite for a powerful attacker, a Sinistcha for Hospitality support, and an Ursaluna as a powerful physical attacker.

1) Jorge Tabuyo’s Pokemon VGC September Challenge Team (Rillaboom, Incineroar, Gholdengo, Sneasler, Alolan Ninetales, and Bloodmoon Ursaluna)

The winner of this challenge, Jorge Tabuyo, also used Alolan Ninetales and its ability to set the Snow. While there were other teams with the exact same composition, as he won, his is worth looking at. He also had a Rillaboom and Sneasler core, had Incineroar for Intimidate, and had Bloodmoon Ursaluna as a special attacker.
