This means you can’t afford to miss this window of opportunity, or you will have to do another run to get it.

The katana has a 5% chance of dropping from tumbleweeds in Desert Stage 1. Acquiring it is easy, as you only need to find and destroy tumbleweeds on the map. However, there are a few things to keep in mind.

  • Tumbleweeds are balls of dead bush rolling around the Desert Stage. They are slow, fragile, and break easily, so you won’t have a hard time interacting with one.
  • You can’t break tumbleweeds by shooting them. You need to get close and interact with it.
  • These dry bushes don’t show up on your minimap, so you need to keep an eye out for them while playing.
  • The katana only drops on the first stage of the Desert area. This means you will miss your chance if you defeat the boss and move on to the second stage. Tumbleweeds no longer drop this weapon after you leave the first stage.

Unfortunately, there are no ways to increase the drop rate of the katana in the Desert Area. These dry bushes are also easy to miss, as they blend well with the desert’s sandy texture and color.

Keep in mind that the low probability of this weapon dropping in Megabonk means you will have to grind hard if you want to acquire one. Sometimes, if you are unlucky, you might not get it in your playthrough. On average, you might need to break around 20 tumbleweeds or more just to get a katana.
