Doublade is a Steel/Ghost type first introduced in Generation VI. Usually its final stage Aegislash would be a viable choice for the competitive meta, having dominated it in the past. However, Doublade shares a similar typing and can utilize it well in a more defensive fashion. So, let’s see how Doublade does in the Legends Z-A meta.

These are the moves you want to use on your Doublade if you plan on using it in battle.

  • Swords Dance
  • Shadow Sneak
  • Shadow Claw
  • Close Combat

What makes Doublade a better pick over Aegislash is actually because of the latter’s signature move King’s Shield. In Legends Z-A, the move is very slow and does not give Aegislash any benefit as there are no Abilities in Legends Z-A. So, Doublade finds a place in the meta thanks to an amazing defensive typing and the ability to improve its bulk further thanks to a held Eviolite.

Swords Dance is the best boosting move for Doublade, increasing its Attack stat by +2. This move comes at level 44. Shadow Sneak and Shadow Claw are useful Ghost-type STAB moves that Doublade will alternate between in a battle. Both of these are level up moves, coming at level 4 and level 24, respectively. Finally, Close Combat helps against Normal and Dark-types. Teach it to Doublade with TM107, which Mable rewards you with at level 37 of her research.

You need to give Doublade an Eviolit,e which increases its bulk. Get the item as a reward for completing the side mission “Starmie on High.”

Best Doublade Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Go with an Adamant (+Atk, -SpA) nature for your Doublade. As Doublade has great bulk, this nature will help boost its Attack stat. You can get an Adamant Mint from a vendor in Rouge Sector 1.
