The daughter has been missing for over a year, and the mother’s search has been relentless. As you dive deep into this side quest, you’ll soon learn that some truths are better left uncovered, and sometimes a white lie is far better than the truth.

Talk to Elsa

You unlock the Gone Girl side quest in Duet Night Abyss by talking to Elsa in the Silverpeace Square. The woman will be desperately calling out for her daughter. Walk up to her and interact to talk to her.

Prompt 1: A woman stops you. Her dry, vacant eyes roam over you, as if desperately searching for something inside of you.

Ummm.. I’m not your daughter	3 Benefit
Please calm down. Are you looking for someone? I’ll keep an eye out for you.	3 Empathy
Mum!!	3 Chaos

Prompt 2: The woman appears deeply distressed, seemingly having lost her daughter. Try to gently calm her down.

You have to pass a wisdom check for this prompt, which will then give you:

Talk to the Kind-Hearted Stranger and Someone Else

Once you agree to help Elsa find her daughter, you then have to go and speak to the Kind-Hearted Stranger nearby. This stranger will reveal that Elsa’s daughter has been missing for a year. Once this conversation wraps up, your objective then is to talk to someone else.

Talk to the Baffled Citizen, and he’ll then tell you of a strange girl that he saw in town. This girl was last seen by the city gate, so that’s where you need to go. Wrap this conversation up to complete the objective.

Help Elsa Find Her Daughter

Now that you’ve heard of the strange girl by the city gate, that’s where you need to go. Head to the gate and you’ll find the Amnesiac Girl. Walk up to her, and then interact to talk.

Prompt 1: “A kind-hearted doctor found me up in the northern mountains and brought me back. She said I had a terrible fever… and that it probably damaged my memory.”

I understand. Losing a sense of belonging is awful.	Empathy +3
Staying out here isn’t safe. It’s best to figure out your true identity as soon as possible.	Morality +3
Seeing is not always believing. You’ve got to investigate everything thoroughly before jumping to conclusions.	Wisdom +3

Prompt 2: “The only thing I could remember these past few days was the relentless blizzard as I struggled to make my way across the mountain… But right now, I’m in no condition to go anywhere. Could you help me with the investigation?”

Accept the girl’s request to clear this prompt.

Save the woman surrounded by Filthoids, Look for Clues to Alice’s Past, Inform the Amnesiac Girl of Your Latest Discoveries

To help the girl with her investigation, you now need to go to Lamenting Lake. This is where you’ll find Dr. Elinor, the woman who helped the girl. As you reach the area, you’ll find Elinor surrounded by Filthoids. Defeat the creatures and talk to the doctor. The doctor will reveal that Annie, Elsa’s daughter, is dead, and the Amnesiac Girl is Alice, who was with Annie in her last moments.

Head back to Alice, and you then have the choice to show her her diary and help restore her memories, or lie about it and take her back to Elsa as Annie.

Inform Elsa of What Happened to Annie

Head back to Elsa, and you then have the choice to tell her the truth about what happened to Annie, or lie and present Alice as Annie to her. If you showed Alice her diary, she’ll remember everything. Then, she will tell Elsa the truth. Elsa won’t believe a word and will continue her search for Annie. If you didn’t show Alice the diary, Elsa will take her to be the daughter.

Make your choice, and the quest will then end, granting you the following:
