Xerneas is a Fairy-type from Generation VI that was the Box Art Legendary of Pokemon X. While Xerneas did not receive a new Mega Evolution in Legends Z-A, it was already a competitive powerhouse. So, let’s see if it manages to maintain that level of dominance in Legends Z-A.
Best Xerneas Moveset in Pokemon Legends Z-A
These are the moves you want to use on your Xerneas if you plan on using it in battle.
- Geomancy
- Moonblast
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
Xerneas keeps its signature move Geomancy in Legends Z-A, which boosts its Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed. As this game does not utilize turn-based mechanics, it takes about 2-3 seconds to charge the move, making it decently viable.
Besides Geomancy, Moonblast is a must for Xerneas as a Fairy-type STAB. This deer learns the former at level 55 and the latter at level 60. Psychic and Focus Blast are here for coverage against Poison and Steel-types. Teach Psychic with TM063, which you get in Wild Zone 11. As for Focus Blast, use TM102, which Mable gives you as a reward for reaching level 44 on her research reward ladder.
Equip Xerneas with a Fairy Feather to make its Moonblasts more powerful. You get this item as a reward for completing the side mission “A Fan of Fairy Types.”
Best Xerneas Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Go with a Modest (+SpA, -Atk) nature. This will make its Special Attacks hit harder if you are not able to get a Geomancy boost in battle. You can get a Modest Mint from a vendor in Rouge Sector 1.

Xerneas becomes catchable in the postgame in the main mission “The One That Gives.” The location of this Legendary Pokemon is in Wild Zone 11.
