Vaporeon is a Water-type from Generation I that is one of the original Eeveelutions alongside Flareon and Jolteon. As a bulky Water-type, it has always had a niche in the competitive scene regardless of the Generation. So, let’s see if Vaporeon can still hold its own in the Legends Z-A meta.
Best Vaporeon Moveset in Pokemon Legends Z-A
These are the moves you want to use on your Vaporeon if you plan on using it in battle.
- Wish
- Protect
- Calm Mind
- Surf
Vaporeon has access to some of its best moves in Legends Z-A, which lets it utilize its bulk to the fullest.
Wish lets Vaporeon heal both itself and its allies, with it learning the move by level up. Protect is useful to avoid a powerful move from an opposing Pokemon. Teach it to Vaporeon with TM017, which Mable grants as a reward after reaching level 4 on her research ladder. Calm Mind is useful for providing a boost to both of Vaporeon’s Special stats. Mable also rewards us with TM006 for this move at level 26 of her research. Finally, Surf is a reliable Water STAB for Vaporeon to use, learnt at level.
Give Vaporeon a Leftovers to hold, letting it heal in battle over time. You get this held item after completing the side mission “The Best Use for Leftovers.”
Best Vaporeon Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Go with a Bold (+Def, -Atk) nature. This will give Vaporeon a much-needed boost to its lower physical Defense stat. You can get a Bold Mint from a vendor in Rouge Sector 1.

Catch an Eevee in Wild Zone 19, Bleu Sector 7, Jaune District, Magenta District, Rouge Sector 8, and Vert Sector 9. Evolve it into a Vaporeon with a Water Stone from the Stone Emporium.

- Defense: 60
- Special Attack: 110
- Special Defense: 95
- Speed: 65
