The Death Head Possession in REPO is a new mechanic that the Monster Update for the game introduced recently. It’s related to what happens to a player after they die, and how they can still prove useful to their team. The Monster Update is a major update that developers released, introducing a bunch of new Monsters, Treasures, map tiles, and much more. In this article, we’ll focus our attention on the Death Head Possession, and how it can be a gamechanger.

In the past, players who fell in REPO existed as a lonely head, hoping for other members of the team to discover and carry them like one of the treasures. In this state, the player was less than useless. They couldn’t initiate proximity chats with squad mates. Similarly, they couldn’t move around. In fact, the map didn’t even show their head’s location to other players. So, there was very little chance of them even discovering the fallen member, let alone carry them out. Only those with the Map Player Count Upgrade could even see the number of surviving team members. In most cases, the teams didn’t even know when one of their own was down.

However, all of that changes with the Death Head Possession feature. With this active, your head will remain semi useful even after you’ve died. You can now use the head to distract monsters or help with discovering the next extraction point as you wait for revival. You can also start proximity chats even after dying to ensure that your buddies can easily locate where you are.

Using the Death Head Possession

After dying, it’ll take some time for the Death Head Possession to become available. Just keep an eye on your semibot head after death and wait until it opens its eyes. When that happens, you can initiate the Death Head Possession by pressing the E button. You can then use Space to hop around the map for a limited period of time. Keep in mind that you can turn off the possession at any time by simply pressing E again. Also, it takes a significant amount of time to charge up the possession. In comparison, the actual possession window doesn’t last nearly as long. Make sure you time the Death Head Possession perfectly for it to be useful.

You can grab the Death Head Battery Upgrade at the Service Station if you want the possessed state to last longer. However, there isn’t any way to reduce the charge time for the feature after death.
