Despite having a huge number of weaknesses, Grass-type Pokemon remain key to most Pokemon teams in Legends Z-A. This is because of the utility they provide with moves like Leech Seed, Sleep Powder, and Stun Spore. Additionally, Grass-type Pokemon are some of the best checks to Water-type Pokemon, as that typing has only two weaknesses (Electric and Grass).

So, in this article, we will take a look at all the Grass-type Pokemon in Legends Z-A and rank them so you can consider them for your team. Keep in mind, this list will only include the fully evolved Pokemon as they are the stage you are most likely to be using. Additionally, if a Pokemon can Mega Evolve that is taken into account as well.

These Grass-types are the best in the game and earn a slot on your team with no issues:

PokemonReasoning
MeganiumBST (Base Stat Total): 525. Thanks to its new Mega Evolution, Meganium is one of the best Grass-types for you to consider using. It has great bulk and can keep itself healthy while dealing damage with Giga Drain and Leech Seed.
VenusaurBST: 525. Venusaur’s part Poison typing makes it a great choice against other Grass-types. It has overall great stats and a wide variety of support moves like Leech Seed, Sleep Powder, and Toxic to help its allies.
ChesnaughtBST: 530. After Mega Evolving, Chesnaught becomes a physical tank. This lets it both deal massive damage with its Attack stat while simultaneously being capable of taking most physical hits.

A-Tier

These Pokemon are great, but have a few minor flaws that hold them back. However, those issues can be overcome with team support:

PokemonReasoning
VictreebelBST: 490. After receiving a new Mega Evolution, Victreebel became a stronger mixed attacker. Its secondary Poison typing lets it handle opposing Grass-types handily.
AbomasnowBST: 494. Possessing a unique Grass/Ice typing, Abomasnow can surprise unprepared opponents. However, it has 4x weakness to Fire, which is an issue even for its Mega Evolution.
RoseradeBST: 515. Roserade is useful for its ability to provide fast support with moves like Toxic Spikes, Spikes, Charm, and Leech Seed. It’s also a handy Special Attacker in a pinch.

B-Tier

These Pokemon have some good traits, but need to have their team built around supporting them:

PokemonReasoning
LeafeonBST: 525. As an Eeveelution, Leafeon has more than usable stats. However, it lacks meaningful ways to deal damage or support its team outside of Leech Seed, which it isn’t the best user of.
GourgeistBST: 494. Gourgeist’s stat spread alters depending on its size. This provides it a bit of unpredictability, but it is not able to do much with that.
GogoatBST: 531. Gogoat has a lot of useful traits like a 123 HP stat and good level up moves like Horn Leech and Earthquake. However, its defenses are too low to take advantage of its HP, and its offenses are not strong enough to take advantage of its movepool.

C-Tier

These Pokemon are too flawed to be considered for your team and should be replaced with better options once available:

PokemonReasoning
TrevenantBST: 474. A worse version of Gourgeist, with not much going for it except for a 110 Attack stat.
SimisageBST: 498. Simisage has useful early game stats and a wide movepool. However, it falls off drastically later on.
