There are actually quite a few Dark-type Pokemon in Legends Z-A compared to other types like Ghost or Fire. Some of them are new Mega Evolutions who are making their debut in this game. So in this article, we will look at all the Dark-type Pokemon in this game so that you can pick the best choice for your team.

Disclaimer: We will only be considering the final stage of all the Pokemon in this article. Additionally, there are some Mega Evolutions that change typing, so we will be taking that into account as well.

S-Tier

These are the best Dark-type Pokemon in the game that you need to put on your team:

PokemonReasoning
YveltalBST (Base Stat Total): 680. It’s a Box Art Legendary with appropriate stats. Even without a new Mega Evolution, Yveltal is the strongest Dark-type in the game so far.
GreninjaBST: 530. Greninja becomes faster and can act as a powerful mixed attacker after Mega Evolving. Even without an Ability like Protean or Battle Bond, this earns it a spot on your team.
GyaradosBST: 540. While you will need to Mega Evolve Gyarados for its Dark-typing, its well worth it. It’s a powerful physical attacker that now gets STAB on moves like Crunch.

A-Tier

These Pokemon are amazing and only have a few flaws that can be played around:

PokemonReasoning
TyranitarBST: 600. An excellent Pokemon after Mega Evolution. The only things holding it back from being a tier higher is its 4x weakness to Fighting and inability to set up Sandstorm upon entering the battlefield with its ability Sand Stream.
HoundoomBST: 500. A fast Special Attacker with access to STAB Fire Blast and Dark Pulse.
AbsolBST: 465. While it does not have the Ability Magic Bounce in this game, it is more than a decent physical Dark-type attacker.
UmbreonBST: 525. This Eeveelution is an amazing wall capable of shrugging off neutral hits even from Mega Evolved Pokemon.

B-Tier

These Pokemon have some good traits, but need a lot of support from their teammates:

PokemonReasoning
KrookodileBST: 519. While not as strong as some Megas, Krookodile remains a decent physical attacker.
PangoroBST: 495. Only slightly worse than Krookodile due to its 4x weakness to Fairy-type, but still a great physical attacker.
SharpedoBST: 460. While a very powerful physical attacker, it’s relatively slow for a Mega and extremely frail. Also the lack of its Ability Strong Jaw makes it slightly weaker too.
ScraftyBST: 488. Mega Scrafty has decent bulk after Mega Evolving. However, its low Speed combined with a 4x Fairy-type weakness leaves it as a sub-optimal choice.

C-Tier

These Pokemon are too flawed to be considered a permanent choice for your team:

PokemonReasoning
SableyeBST: 380. Mega Sableye does not have Magic Bounce in this game, making it not worth using.
MalamarBST: 482. Very underwhelming stats for a Mega Evolution and should not be considered for your team.
