Learn how to use Houndoom in the Pokemon Legends Z-A competitive scene with information about its moveset and nature.

Houndoom is a Dark/Fire-type Pokemon first introduced in Generation II. While it has some potential in the competitive meta, it was usually outshone by other Pokemon. However, its new Mega Evolution in Generation VI gave it some viability. So, let’s see how Houndoom performs in the Legends Z-A competitive meta.
Best Houndoom Moveset in Pokemon Legends Z-A

These are the moves you want to use on your Houndoom if you plan on using it in battle.
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Dark Pulse
- Roar
Mega Houndoom has a pretty high Special Attack stat and is relatively fast thanks to Legends Z-A’s mechanics. Especially since it has a pretty useful STAB combo of Dark and Fire.
Nasty Plot is a great level-up move for Houndoom which gives it a boost to its Special Attack stat. Fire Blast is a decently powerful Fire-type STAB, which Houndoom can learn with TM038, a gift from Mable on reaching level 42 of her research. Dark Pulse is the best special Dark-type STAB, which it learns at level 34. Finally, Roar, at level 13, is useful for pushing an opponent away.
