Europa Universalis 5 is a 4X grand strategy game by Paradox Interactive with more new features than the previous title in this series. However, exploring most of them can take dozens of hours, especially the complex features. Therefore, players can use different cheat and console commands to play the game as they wish.

How To Enable Cheat Console Commands in Europa Universalis 5

Due to Europa Universalis 5 being exclusive to PC, you can enable the cheat console using the Tilde (~) key on your keyboard while being in-game. However, you first need to enable the developer console so you can type the commands. Here’s how to do so:

Steam

  • Open your Steam library and right-click on the game.
  • Select Properties and head to the General section.
  • Under General, add -debug_mode to Launch Options.
  • Exit Properties, then enter the game to use the console.

Windows

  • Open the folder where you have the game files. 
  • Look for the .exe file that you use to launch the game within the binaries folder.
  • Right-click the .exe file and select Properties.
  • Add -debug_mode at the end of the target field path and select Save.
  • Launch the game to use the console.

Launcher

  • Open the game launcher.
  • Head to Game Settings.
  • Launch the game after turning on the Debug Mode option.
