Amiibo are easily the most exciting aspect of any new Nintendo release, especially on Switch and Switch 2. And that holds true for Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment as well. Not only is Age of Imprisonment getting new amiibo in the future, but it also comes with a few really cool figurines that you can collect from Nintendo’s website or an authorized retailer.

Much like in the case of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, or Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity, the amiibo in Age of Imprisonment give you access to in-game rewards. While the rewards aren’t anything substantial, they’re still quite helpful, especially in the opening few hours of the game.

Here’s everything you need to know about amiibo in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment.

Before you can use amiibo in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment, you need to play the game’s tutorial to its completion. Much like in the past Hyrule Warriors games, the tutorials in Age of Imprisonment are quite long. When you first launch the game, you will have to watch a short cutscene before getting control of Princess Zelda. This is followed by a short combat tutorial.

Furthermore, after the basic combat tutorial, you will have to complete a handful of additional objectives before you can save your progress. After completing The Art of the Blade mission, you will finally be able to save your progress. Furthermore, this is also when you get access to the game’s title menu. And as such, you can use amiibo after this mission.

If you have a compatible amiibo, you can scan it using the Switch 2’s Joy-Con controllers. Simply place the amiibo on top of the joystick to use the console’s NFC reader and scan it. Once the amiibo is registered, a treasure chest will appear in the game with the rewards. Do note that you can only use amiibo that are compatible with the original Switch or Switch 2.
