Fighting during the Imprisoning War can be tense, but having trusted friends and allies around can make a difference. Fortunately, Nintendo added several options to make this possible on your Nintendo Switch 2.
In this guide, we will look at all the multiplayer options in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment. Find out how to enable them and which options are best suited for your setup.
Every Multiplayer Option in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment

These are all the multiplayer options that can be used in Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment:
- GameShare (Local)
- GameShare (GameChat)
- Split Screen
The GameShare feature allows players to join a game without needing a copy of it. In the case of Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment, the host can invite their friends with a Nintendo Switch 2 to act as their second player. It also includes the traditional split-screen setup, where players can sync a second pair of Joy-Cons or a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller on the same device.
GameShare (Local and GameChat)
This feature works if the host opens an invitation in the game and accepts the second player on their respective device. This multiplayer mode does not require GameChat to function. Follow these steps:
- Open Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment.
- Press the HOME button and look for the GameChat icon at the bottom.
- Search for your friend in the list.
- Return to the game and select “Two-Player Mode”.
- Wait for your friend to accept and start playing together.
If you want to end the session, you can exit the game, and your friend will no longer have access.
