In this tier list, you will learn about the best Flying-type Pokemon in Legends Z-A that you should consider using on your team.

As a predominantly secondary typing, Flying-type Pokemon are quite common. However, common does mean bad as Flying-types have an immunity to Ground-type attacks. So let us see which Flying-type Pokemon are the best for you to use in Pokemon Legends Z-A.
Disclaimer: Keep in mind we will only consider the fully evolved stages of these Pokemon, as they are usually the strongest versions of them. Additionally, if they can Mega Evolve, we will also take that into account. Finally, if a Pokemon gains the Flying-typing upon Mega Evolution, they will be on the list as well to determine whether or not Mega Evolving them is worth it.
All Flying-Type Pokemon in Legends Z-A Tier List

Here is the complete tier list for all Flying-type Pokemon in-game:
| Tier | Pokemon |
|---|---|
| S-Tier | Dragonite, Yveltal, Charizard, and Skarmory |
| A-Tier | Talonflame, Gyarados, Salamence, Hawlucha, Aerodactyl, and Pinsir* |
| B-Tier | Pidgeot, Clefable*, Altaria, and Noivern |
| C-Tier | Vivillon, Emolga, and Delibird |
S-Tier
These are the best Flying-type Pokemon for you to use:
| Pokemon | Reasoning |
|---|---|
| Dragonite | BST (Base Stat Total): 600. Even though it becomes a Special Attacker after Mega Evolving, Dragonite remains one of the best new Megas owing to its stats and vast movepool. |
| Yveltal | BST: 680. As a Box Art Legnedary with stats higher than most other Pokemon on this list, Yveltal is too powerful to not consider using. |
| Charizard | BST: 534. Mega Charizard Y may not be able to set up the Sun with its Ability Drought, but it remains a powerful Special Attacker regardless. |
| Skarmory | BST: 465. Upon Mega Evolution, Skarmory goes from a physical wall to a physical attacker. Thanks to a decent stat distribution, it is amazing in both roles. |
A-Tier

These Pokemon are great, but rely more on their other typing besides Flying to be viable:
| Pokemon | Reasoning |
|---|---|
| Talonflame | BST: 499. If you are not looking to use a Flying-type Mega Evolution, Talonflame is a great choice as a support Pokemon. |
| Gyarados | BST: 540. Even though Gyarados loses its Flying-typing upon Mega Evolving, its base form is pretty decent in its own right. |
| Salamence | BST: 600. Despite not having its Ability Aerilate and movement Speed not being as important as regular Speed, Mega Salamence is still a great pick. |
| Hawlucha | BST: 500. While an overall great Pokemon, especially thanks to its Speed, Mega Hawlucha’s overall stats are unimpressive for a Mega. |
| Aerodactyl | BST: 515. Mega Aerodactyl’s impressive Speed is not as valuable in Legends Z-A due to the mechanics of the game. |
| Pinsir | BST: 500. Pinsir is a decent physical attacker after Mega Evolving. However the lack of its Ability Aerilate to give it great Flying-type STAB hurts its viability. |
B-Tier

These Pokemon can be used but need a lot of team support to overcome their flaws:
| Pokemon | Reasoning |
|---|---|
| Pidgeot | BST: 479. Sadly, in the absence of its Ability No Guard, Mega Pidgeot is outclassed by most other Mega Evolving Flying-types. |
| Clefable | BST: 483. Clefable’s viability comes from its Ability Magic Guard. As such, without it, Clefable is an underwhelming Mega Evolution. |
| Altaria | BST: 490. Altaria loses its Flying-type upon Mega Evolving like Gyarados. Unlike Gyarados, its base form is not great outside of a part Dragon-typing. |
| Noivern | BST: 535. Sadly, with all these Megas running around, Noivern struggles to distinguish itself. |
C-Tier
These Pokemon are just not worth using:
| Pokemon | Reasoning |
|---|---|
| Vivillon | BST: 411. Too weak to be viable. |
| Emolga | BST: 428. Despite decent typing, Emolga does not have the stats to use it. |
| Delibird | BST: 330. Do not use Delibird. |
