With so many options to choose from and things to do, it is really easy to get overwhelmed and confused even before you take over a team. So, whether you are a newcomer trying the game for the first time or a bored veteran looking for a new experience, here are some interesting challenges you can try in FM26.
Best Save Challenges in Football Manager 26
Football Manager has a long history of various interesting challenges you can try in some of your saves, and it is no different in FM26. This football simulator gives you so much freedom that you can virtually do anything and create your very own story of success and failure. However, if you are a bit tired of simply managing your favorite team in the game or just want a new challenge, here are some ideas you can try.
The Journeyman Save
One of the most fun and interesting challenges in FM26 is the Journeyman Save. In it, instead of managing one team throughout your career, you will aim to take over as many teams as possible across the many leagues in the game. If you are in Europe, we recommend trying to manage a club from each of the top five leagues and winning their domestic league before moving on.
Since you will have a relatively short time with each of your teams, the Journeyman becomes a story of what you can do to achieve success with what you have.
Take Over a Team in Relegation Battle
While in the previous save you will try to win everything you can with the teams you have, in the Relegation Battle save, you will instead aim to take over a weaker team in a league and help them avoid relegation to the lower tier.
For this, you can either choose a club that is at the bottom of the top tier of a nation’s football structure or a club that is in the playoffs in the second tier and trying to enter the highest league, such as the Premier League in the UK. The path might not be easy, but if you can save your team from relegation and then take them higher in the table, it is a rewarding feeling.

Become Director of Football
If you want to take charge of a club but don’t want to handle tactics or matchday management, then you can try this challenge. In this save, you will take the role of a Director of Football and manage recruitment and transfers for your club while delegating all match-related responsibilities to the assistant manager, who will act as the head among the other coaches.
Of course, if you are not content, you can sack and rehire coaches and staff. This alternate way of playing FM26 can be ideal for gamers who want to break out of the norm and try something new.
Road to Glory
Road to Glory is easily one of the hardest challenges in Football Manager 26. During this save, you will aim to start at the lowest tier of football in the game, which is the English 6th tier, and take your team all the way to the top of the Premier League and even win the Champions League.
There are no restrictions on what kind of team you can pick, wealthy or rich with heritage, as long as they belong to the lowest league, you are good to go. Since the challenge is so big, it might take you a long time to achieve this beautiful dream, but when you do, it is a feeling like no other.
Start Unemployed
If you want the most realistic experience possible in Football Manager 26, then you can try a save where you start unemployed. Once it begins, you will find yourself quite lost in the job market at first, and all you can do is keep applying to every club with a vacancy until one of them gets back to you.
Of course, if you have the highest coaching badge in the game, then sometimes clubs can also headhunt and approach you on their own. This way, you get a different view of FM26 and might end up at a club you never even heard of, leading them to their first trophy.
