When the fights start, focus on breaking the Weak Point Gauge of big enemies. You can use Time Bombs to stun them and deal quick hits. You only get three battery charges per mission, so think before using Zonai devices.
After you defeat the Stalnox and the two Stalmoblins, the battle changes pace. A Black Boss Bokoblin and a White Maned Lynel appear as reinforcements. These two can deal heavy damage if you attack carelessly. Try to trigger Sync Strikes when two nearby characters have full gauges.
The Balloon Zonai device is another useful item here. It lets you move across the map quickly, which is handy when the siege at the main outpost begins. Use it to get back in time to defend before enemies break through.
You should also cook meals whenever you get a chance to set up camp. Food buffs can improve your movement speed, reduce ability cooldowns, and increase experience gain.
Do not forget to check the cave system. You can find Korok Seeds and treasure chests hidden in the corners. Capturing extra outposts also gives you bonus items.
