Here is what you need to know about the new fishing minigame, which is part of the Enshrouded Wake of the Water update.
One of the new contents in the Enshrouded Wake of the Water is fishing. This lets you collect various types of fish, each with its own rarity and special effects when consumed. It’s a good way to pass the time if you don’t feel like completing some quests. At the same time, it’s also a good reason to go out and explore the new Veilwater Basin biome and look for hotspots where rare fish may spawn.

How To Get a Fishing Rod in Enshrouded Wake of the Water
Before catching aquatic creatures in the Veilwater Basin Biome in Enshrouded Wake of the Water, you will need the proper gear. You can do this by opening your crafting interface and using the required materials to craft a Simple Fishing Rod. You will need 2x Twigs, 2x Metal Scraps, and 1x String to craft your basic fishing tool.
If you want some upgrades, the Hunter can craft you the Improved Fishing Rod. However, you need a bit more material to make one. It requires 1x Palm Wood Logs, 2x Iron Bars, 1x String, and 1x Icy Brook. According to in-game notes, this tool is more efficient and can endure the fight to reel in the fish much longer. If you want a bigger and rarer catch, you will need this rod.
How To Get Fishing Bait in Enshrouded Wake of the Water
A fishing bait is necessary if you want to increase your chances of catching a fish in the Enshrouded Wake of the Water update. Fortunately, these baits are easy to acquire. You can find the most common baits through exploration.
For example, fireflies are the most basic baits you can use in fishing. You can easily spot them at night as they tend to glow in the dark. Another option is frogs. You can spot them by simply roaming around areas. However, you will need to be more attentive to spot these critters.
Simply approach these critters and interact with them by pressing “E.” They will then be added to your inventory as baits. You will know they can be used as baits when you see a fish icon at the top left side of the item.
How To Engage in Fishing
You can fish in almost any body of water in the Enshrouded Wake of the Water update. However, you will want to find locations with fishing hotspots. These are areas with a lot of fish activity, causing the water to have multiple ripple effects and circular waves. These hotspots are rare, but you will want to do some fishing in them whenever you find one.
To start fishing in Enshrouded, you will need to equip your fishing rod. Next, check your baits and equip the best one you have. Or, if you are still testing the waters, use the common fireflies as bait. Once you are ready, left-click while holding your fishing rod to cast. There will be a power bar that indicates how far you can throw the hook.
The next thing you need to do is be patient. Wait for a fish to bite your hook. When you finally get a bite, reel in the fish by left-clicking. Once you get your catch, an animation will appear letting you know what kind of fish you caught. You can either press “E” to take the fish or let it go by pressing right-click. You wouldn’t want to overencumber yourself with fish. Take the ones you want and let go of the others.
