The Maddening Pain is a Task that unlocks during the Anamnesis quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC. It’s essentially one of the earlier side quests that unlock in the expansion. As part of the Anamnesia, you will need to complete this Task before you can conclude the side quest. Thankfully, it’s a fairly straightforward task: quell a lady’s “maddening pain” using medicine.

However, in order to do so, you will need to craft the medicine yourself. Here’s a comprehensive walkthrough for the Maddening Pain quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Mysteria Ecclesiae.

After you start the Anamnesis quest in the Sedletz monastery, you will eventually come across a lady named Maddie. You will find Maddie right after exiting the monastery. Talking to Maddie, you’ll get to know about her sickness and pain. Furthermore, once you talk to Maddie and select the following dialog prompts, it will start the Maddening Pain quest:

  • How long has it been hurting?
  • What were you doing before it started?
  • Alright, I’ll help you.
  • I’ll try and ask in the infirmary/ I’ll try to diagnose you (if you have high enough Scholarship stat).

Do make sure to finish the Maddening Pain Task before finishing the Anamnesis quest. This is because, once you complete the quest, the Maddening Pain Task becomes unavailable.

Speak With Albich

Right after the Maddening Pain Task starts, head back to the infirmary and talk to Albich. Choose the “How can I help Maddie?” prompt to obtain the anti-inflammatory potion recipe. Next, you need to brew the anti-inflammatory potion. However, before you can do so, you need to collect a few resources. Additionally, you also need to make your way to the alchemy room.

Brew The Potion

To brew the anti-inflammatory potion, you will need:

Thankfully, all these resources can be found right outside the infirmary. Once you have all the resources, head to the alchemy room and brew the potions via the following steps:

  • Open the recipe book and turn to the anti-inflammatory recipe page.
  • Start preparing the potion.
  • Pour water into the cauldron as the base, and add Nettle to it after grinding it in the mortar.
  • Move the couldron to the Bellows and boil it for 1 turn.
  • Next, add Valerian to the cauldron and boil it for 2 turns.
  • Now, take Ginger and grind it in the mortar before adding it to the cauldron.
  • Prepare a phial and pour the mixture into it.

After the alchemy process, you will have the anti-inflammatory potion.

Help Maddie

Head to the camp area where you will find Maddie. Talk to her and select the following prompts:

  • About your ailment.
  • I’ll give you something for it.

Next, simply select the anti-inflammatory potion and confirm delivery. This will conclude the Maddening Pain quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Mysteria Ecclesiae.

Optional Tasks

Before you brew the potion, you will have the option to talk to novice Benedict and ask for his help to cure Maddie’s pain. You will find Benedict at the infirmary, where you need to select the following prompts to get him to help you:

  • Yes.
  • I need a potion for a girl.
  • Please help me.

After the dialog, you will receive the weak digestive potion. However, this potion will not cure Maddie’s ailment. You can pick The Rose Garden book from the library to find out the recipe for the anti-inflammatory potion.
