In this article, we will take a look at the Pokemon that might not be as viable for the Regulation F VGC meta.

Regulation F will be returning on December 1, 2025, allowing several Legendary and Paradox Pokemon to be used. As a result, several previous meta staples are likely to fall off in usage, with some vanishing entirely. So, in this article, we will take a look at which Pokemon are less likely to be common in the Regulation F VGC meta.
Disclaimer: The Pokemon mentioned below are based on the last time Regulation F was active.
5 Pokemon That Might Fall Off in the Regulation F VGC Meta
These Pokemon face fierce competition to stay relevant in Regulation F:
- Archaludon
- Ursaluna Bloodmoon
- Sneasler
- Pelipper
- Basculegion
1) Archaludon

Archaludon’s main appeal comes from its signature move, Electro Shot. This is a two-turn Electric-type move that becomes a single turn in rain. However, snow appears to be the more common weather, making rain cores a lot less viable. Additionally, both Urshifu forms are quite common in Regulation F, which Archaludon struggles hard against.
2) Ursaluna-Bloodmoon

Ursaluna-Bloodmoon was one of the strongest Pokemon of the Regulation H meta, alongside Dragonite and Gholdengo. However, while those two retain a level of viability, this bear falls off pretty hard. Several top-tier Pokemon like Chien-Pao, Ogerpon Wellspring, and Urshifu-Rapid Strike can deal with Ursaluna-Bloodmoon fairly easily owing to its low Speed and Special Defense.
3) Sneasler

Sneasler has a decent role as a Terrain abuser alongside Pokemon like Rillaboom and Indeedee-F. However, this need for an Unburden boost holds it back in comparison to other Fighting-types like Urshifu-Rapid Strike. Additionally, the boosts it gets from Psychic Seed, Grassy Seed, or Unburden are only single-use. So, Sneasler cannot switch out without losing those boosts even in the face of a poor matchup. As such, with more powerful choices available that are far easier to use, Sneasler might not be as appealing.
4) Pelipper

Pelipper is likely to see some use as it remains the best rain-setter in the meta. However, rain itself is not a very common playstyle considering the presence of Raging Bolt in the meta. Additionally, Pelipper is extremely frail and will die from most neutral attacks, let alone super-effective ones. Even if it holds a Focus Sash and survives one turn to set up the rain, it is very vulnerable to Fake Out from Incineroar and Rillaboom.
5) Basculegion

Basculegion has quite a few things going for it, with a decent offensive STAB combo of Water/Ghost. It also has access to a powerful physical Ghost-type move in Last Respects, which becomes stronger the more Pokemon on your side of the field have been KO’d. However, its main Ability is Swift Swim, which boosts its Speed in the rain. And as we have established already, rain is not very common in Regulation F. What’s worse is that even if someone chose to run a rain team, they have a much better physical Water-type in Urshifu-Rapid Strike, who is far more consistent. As such, Basculegion is highly unlikely to see any significant use in Regulation F.
