City Status in Anno 117 Pax Romana indicates the scale of your city and its Population. If you check the left of the settings option on the top of your screen, you will notice a Roman number on the right side of your island’s name; it indicates the requirements you need to fulfill to upgrade your City’s status.
Furthermore, you can also see the progress of your City Status as well as the type and level of your current city in the tooltip. How City Status Works in Anno 117 Pax Romana
City Status works in a tricky way. It increases Belief, Knowldge, and Prestige while lowering your city’s Happiness, Health,and Fire Safety. This introduces an interesting dynamic in the game where a larger population with a high City Status means that you will face more risks in exchange for progress. To rectify some of the trade-offs, you can build Vigiles and Wells for Fire Safety.
You will need to hit City Status level two and four to unlock the former in Sandbox mode and Campaign, respectively. As you increase your City Status further, you will unlock more features and structures. This will, of course, help you complete the achievements in the game as well.
