Yin and Yang, Shadow and Echo is a side quest in Where Winds Meet that continues the Fragment Chapter sequence. To start the quest, you have to go to Moonveil Mountain inside Qinghe and access the Wayfarer. You will need some basic Qinghe Exploration progress because later Fragment Chapter Volumes unlock only after you reach certain milestones.
Just open your Exploration menu, go to the Side Story section, and select Volume VI so the marker shows up on your map. Before starting the quest, complete the early Chapter 1 missions to unlock wider access to Qinghe. Once you speak with the Wayfarer, follow the quest indicator that leads you toward the starting point in Moonveil Mountain.
How To Complete Yin and Yang, Shadow and Echo in Where Winds Meet
Approach the quest by reading how each puzzle reacts the moment you touch it. You will see four pillars or discs that behave in two categories: independent pairs like Heaven and Earth and linked pairs like Water and Fire.
Rotate the independent pair first so they face each other or mirror a specific aligned pattern. Then, you have to move the Yin-Yang dial at the centre to match the positions of the pair you just set. Once the dial shifts, the linked pair usually separates enough for individual movement. Rotate them so they stand in contrast, matching the usual balance theme. As soon as all positions line up, the disc or platform tends to drop or unlock another route.
You have to rely heavily on Meridian-style skills for rotating statues or shifting light sources, which helps with sections involving shadows or reflected beams. Also, bring fire arrows for vines or small braziers that trigger new paths.
Then a fight starts with the Thick-Skinned Albino Black Bear. Try to dodge Gold Glow swings entirely since they cannot be blocked. Do not rush the encounter because Fragment Chapter fights reward patience. Once you defeat the Black Bear, collect the treasures and talk to Brother Feng. And that’s the end of this quest.
