On November 15, 2025, the Injured Deer Update in 99 Nights in the Forest went live. The update, dubbed ‘The Deer Is Hurt,’ will have you providing aid to the injured animal. For the uninitiated, the Deer is usually the one stalking you all across the Forest. However, this time around, it seems to need your help. The following guide will explain exactly what you need to do to complete the update.
The Injured Deer Update in 99 Nights in the Forest: What Is It?
If you launch 99 Nights in the Forest post this update, you will immediately see a cutscene play out where an unknown animal attacks the Deer and leaves it grievously wounded. One of its antlers is broken, and the Deer sustains serious injuries to its right leg as well. The scene ends by showing the Deer lying helpless on the ground, desperate for help.
To complete the update quest, you have to provide aid to the Deer while also seeking revenge on the unknown winged creature that attacked it. If you manage to help it, the Deer will repay your kindness by guarding your campfire from other animals and even the cultists.
Here are a few steps to follow to complete The Deer Is Hurt quest:
Find the Deer
Your first order of business is to locate the Deer. Start moving east from your campsite. After a while, you’ll find a clear patch of land and the Deer lying motionless in between.
Tending To the Deer’s Injuries
When you find the Deer, you’ll notice its leg is twisted and an antler is broken. Use a med kit to heal the leg, then a bandage to reattach the antler. Finally, provide food to help the Deer recover quickly.
Protect the Deer From Attacks
As you try to attend to its wounds and feed it, the Deer will come under attack from other animals, such as wolves. Make sure you defeat any such animals that appear.
Use the Purple Fur Tuft
Once the Deer recovers from its injuries, you have to give it the Purple Fur Tuft. This is a key item that will allow the Deer to track the winged animal that attacked it. Follow the Deer around until it takes you to a cave. Here, you’ll see another cutscene where the Deer fights the winged creature. Once that fight ends, you can end the cavern to find a chest. And with that, the quest comes to an end. Now, the Deer will help guard your campfire against cultists and other animals.
