You will find The Promised Light side quest in Where Winds Meet in the final chapter of the Jianghu Legacy quests in Qinghe. To start the quest, head to Sundara Land in Qinghe and speak with the Wayfarer. The quest only appears after you reach six thousand Qinghe Exploration Points, so you may need to clear smaller tasks first.
Once you meet the requirement, talk to the Wayfarer of Moonveil Mountain to confirm the start. After that, track the quest under the Jianghu Legacy section of your Exploration menu so you always know where to head next.
How To Complete The Promised Light Side Quest in Where Winds Meet
You have to start under the Pagoda where a Buddha statue holds a mirror. Inspect it and rotate it with Meridian so the beam reaches a hole on the right. This opens up the path ahead. Once the beam settles, enter the narrow passage and drop into a hall where another statue waits. Repeat the process and line up the light once again to open the next space.
Cavern Drop and First Battle
You need to step behind the statue that shifts, crawl under fallen stone, and the ground will collapse. After climbing back up, examine a sitting body that triggers three Mechanical Puppets. These enemies hit hard unless you keep your rhythm steady.
With the key, you can unlock the door ahead. A cave sits on the right, holding a chest you can reach by jumping over barrels. The left side leads forward. Another group of Puppets waits there. Once they fall, climb the stairs and pass through the door above.
A cutscene greets you as you step into the next passage. Use the Hero’s Tomb here because the next part includes small drops and narrow openings. Squeeze under a fallen pillar, reach an open area, and turn left to hop down to a chest. Another jump takes you to a lower ledge that connects to a deeper path.
Rope Bridges and Final Ledge
You have to cross rope bridges that shake slightly under your feet. You have to ensure you tread steadily because falling brings you back to the Hero’s Tomb. At the final bridge, you jump down to a lower platform where a cutscene appears.
The floor starts breaking apart. So, you must rush forward, watch for prompts, and keep your feet quick. You will drop through a series of ledges until you reach solid ground again. Here, you unlock the teleport point for Thousand-Buddha Cavern.
Another Buddha statue appears, again holding a mirror. Turn it to direct the beam at the sealed door. This reveals a passage into the Buddha Grotto. A Hero’s Tomb sits here, giving you a moment to breathe. Inside, you face Tian Ying, known as Miaoshan.
How To Handle Miaoshan
Miaoshan stays at mid-range during the early phase. He sends measured swings and gives you time to read his blade. You have to wait for the shimmer on his weapon to grow brighter, then you parry cleanly to drain his stamina. During this phase, he tries to control your spacing, so you inch in only after a parry.
In the second phase, he presses harder and chains more hits together. Watch his footwork and respond to the coloured flashes that signal stronger moves. Your goal stays the same: parry until he tires, then strike while he recovers. Once you defeat him, exit through the underwater passage to finish the quest.
