Everything about Curios in Black Myth: Wukong

The Curios in Black Myth: Wukong are an essential part of build crafting as they offer special passive bonuses that shape the effectiveness of your chosen weapon as well as the armor set in the game. Furthermore, Curios also offers perks that enhance your core attributes, apart from just Defense, something that’s not touched upon by the armor set (or pieces). Think of the Curios as the Talismans or Rings in Elden Ring and Dark Souls, respectively. These items can be obtained in various ways – looting special treasure boxes, defeating certain bosses, or as random item drops from specific enemies across Black Myth: Wukong’s multiple chapters.

Additionally, curios are a great way to get additional boosts to attributes like attack power, critical hit chance, and damage. Critical Hit perks are usually locked behind weapon upgrades, which are quite hard to come by. As such, having access to certain Curios allows you to boost your base crit chance without waiting for a weapon upgrade or an entirely new weapon. However, not all Curios are equally as effective in combat as others. While all Curios grant unique passive bonuses, some of them are admittedly more efficient when it comes to combat and even general moment-to-moment gameplay in Black Myth: Wukong.

Curios like the Golden Spikeplate, Jade Moon Rabbit, Gold Sun Crow, Beast Buddha, Tiger Tendon Belt, and White Seashell Waist Chain, are some of the best Cuios in the game. Not only are these Curios effective in combat, but some of them also offer defensive perks, which significantly improve survivability. Furthermore, these Curios don’t have any arbitrary requirements attached to their perks like staying at full HP or imposing any debuffs. That said, here are the 5 best Curios in Black Myth: Wukong that you don’t want to miss out on.

Best Curios in Black Myth: Wukong

The best Curios in Black Myth: Wukong are Tiger Tendon Belt, Beast Buddha, White Seashell Waist Chain, Preservation Orb, and Amber Prayer Beads. These Curios are quite easy to obtain and offer perks that aren’t tied to any prerequisite or debuff. Furthermore, these Curios offer perks that add to the Destined One’s base combat abilities, either by buffing abilities like See Through or increasing the critical hit chance. For instance, the Tiger Tendon Belt which is obtained as a random item drop from the Snake Sheriff enemies in Chapter 4 (The Webbed Hollow) increases attack power by performing a “see-through” maneuver.

Whereas the Beast Buddha, which is obtained as a random drop from one of the elite enemies in Chapter 3 (The New West) adds a flat 9% increase to your overall Critical Hit Damage. The Critical Hit Damage attribute determines the amount of bonus damage you deal to an enemy using the charged-heavy attacks or stance talents like Whirling Thrust, Churning Gale, etc. Unfortunately, in standard New Game, you can only equip only three Curios at any given time. However, if you progress all the way to New Game+2, you can equip a total of 5 Curios at the same time.

Here are the 5 best Curios in Black Myth: Wukong:

  1. Tiger Tendon Belt
  2. Amber Prayer Beads
  3. Beast Buddha
  4. White Seashell Waist Chain
  5. Preservation Orb

5) Preservation Orb

  • Curios: Preservation Orb
  • Perk: Increases Mana, HP, and Stamina after the resurrection
  • Rarity: Epic
  • How to obtain: Found in a chest near the opening to the Purple Cloud Mountain (Chapter 4 – The Webbed Hollow)

The Preservation Orb is an excellent choice if you’re looking for something to boost survivability, apart from the Foundation talents. The perk of this Curios is that it grants a massive boost to core stats like HP, Mana, and Stamina for a considerably long amount of time. However, the perk only activates when you resurrect at a Keeper’s Shrine (not to be confused with fast travel). The Preservation Orb is best used before heading into a boss fight, or certain sections where you’re bound to get overwhelmed by enemies. You can further enhance the effects of the Preservation Orb with Medicines like the Longevity Decoction, Tonifying Decoction, and Essence Decoction.

The Preservation Orb is obtained after completing Chapter 4, i.e., defeating the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master. You essentially need to return to Chapter 4 after completing it to find a treasure chest near the portal which takes you to the Purple Cloud Mountain. This chest contains the Preservation Orb, which is left there by Zhu Bajie as a token of gratitude and affection for the deceased Violet Spider.

4) White Seashell Waist Chain

  • Curios: White Seashell Waist Chain
  • Perk: Slightly increases base attack power (5%)
  • Rarity: Rare
  • How to obtain: Obtained as a random drop from the Bull Stalwart enemies (Chapter 5 – The Flaming Mountain)

The White Seashell Waist Chain is a really powerful Curios that you can totally miss out on if you don’t know where to look for it. This Curios essentially grants a flat 5% increase to the Destined One’s base attack power. Furthermore, the Curios’ perk stacks with other White Seashell Waist Chains attack power-enhancing Curios or even Medicine effects. You can essentially farm three or more White Seashell Waist Chins and equip them on the Destined One to get a flat 15-20% increase in attack power. While the 5% buff might not look like much, given how Black Myth: Wukong handles attack power progression, it’s quite a significant amount.

For instance, with just two White Seashell Waist Chains you can get enough attack power boost that rivals the amount you get from upgrading your Staff to the Legendary or even Mythical tier. The White Seashell Waist Chain is usable for all scenarios, be it exploration or boss fights. The Curios is obtained as a random drop from the Bull Stalwart enemies in Chapter 5. You can farm these enemies near the Bishui Cave area or the Palace Entrance before it.

3) Beast Buddha

  • Curios: Beast Buddha
  • Perk: Increases Critical Hit Damage (9%)
  • Rarity: Rare
  • How to obtain: Obtained as a random drop from the Dual-Blade Monk enemies (Chapter 3 – The New World)

The Beast Buddha, much like the White Seashell Waist Chain grants a flat increase to one of the most crucial stats in Black Myth: Wukong – Critical Hit Damage. Similar to the Waist Chain, the Beast Buddha can be stacked to further increase the Destined One’s overall Critical Hit Damage which translates to incredibly high DPS via critical attacks. The Critical Hit Damage attribute governs the amount of DPS the Destined One’s charged-heavy as well as Stance attack deal. Higher Critical Damage translates to higher overall bonus damage output. And with Stances like Thrust and Pillar, you can easily deal critical damage with almost every single weapon skill.

The Beast Buddha is useful almost everywhere, be it regular exploration or boss fights. You can obtain the Beast Buddha as a random drop from defeating the Dual-Blade Monks near the Thunderclap Temple in Chapter 3. There’s a very easy way to farm this Curios near the Towers of Karma Keeper’s Shrine.

2) Amber Prayer Beads

  • Curios: Amber Prayer Beads
  • Perk: Increases Focus build-up
  • Rarity: Epic
  • How to obtain: Found near the cave that leads to the second Flaming Cart enemy (Chapter 5 – The Flaming Mountain)

The Amber Prayer Beads is one of the most essential Curios in Black Myth: Wukong that you should have equipped at all times. The perk of this Curios is that it increases Focus build-up considerably. Focus is required to perform charged-heavy attacks or see-throughs. However, Focus is only gained upon landing successful hits on enemies or performing Perfect Dodges. While the standard rate of Focus build-up is fine for mini-bosses and regular combat, it does feel a bit sluggish against certain main story bosses. This is especially helpful in the end-game and New Game+. The Amber Prayer Beads really help in those parts of the game, significantly increasing the Focus build-up.

The Amber Prayer Bead can be found in a small treasure chest within the cave that leads to the second Flaming Cart in Chapter 5. You reach this cave after defeating the Father of Stones and then making your way through the wooden door in the boss arena.

1) Tiger Tendon Belt

  • Curios: Tiger Tendon Belt
  • Perk: Increase attack power after seeing through an enemy attack
  • Rarity: Legendary
  • How to obtain: Obtained as a random drop from the Snake Sheriff enemy (Chapter 4 – The Webbed Hollow)

The Tiger Tendon is easily the best Cuios in Black Myth: Wukong simply due to its primary perk of buffing attack power for every successive see-through. See-throughs are performed when you have at least one Focus point and use the heavy attack in between the light attack combo. Perfectly timing the see-through maneuver right before an enemy’s attack lands on the Destined One grants a brief moment of invulnerability. The see-through moveset is already incredibly powerful but with the Tiger Tendon Belt, it gets a massive buff which comes incredibly handy against some of the later bosses in Black Myth: Wukong. Furthermore, the attack power buff from the Tiger Tendon Belt stacks with other Curios and similar buffs.

A successful see-through grants a massive 15% attack power bonus. Paired with buffs like the Beast Buddha, Tiger Subduing Pellets, Amplification Pellets, and Enhanced Tiger Subduing Pellets, the Tier Tendon Belt allows the Destined One to dish out massive amounts of damage while being completely invulnerable at the same time. The Tiger Tendon Belt is obtained from the Snake Sherrif enemies in Chapter 5, as a random drop. The best place to farm for the Tiger Tendon Belt is near the Court of Illumination Keeper’s Shrine.
