To find Neon in Starfield, head to the System of Volii within the Volii Alpha planet. It’s the sci-fi cyberpunk-themed city in Starfield that was showcased heavily in the game’s trailers. While it’s a far cry from Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City, in terms of atmosphere and ambiance, it does share some commonalities with the city of “crime.” Neon is the best place to be if you want to grab some “contrabands,” especially the time-slowing drug – Aurora. Furthermore, you can reach Neon fairly early in the game. That is, as long as you know how to get to the cyberpunk-themed location.

In fact, you can reach Neon much before the campaign even properly starts. And if you want to get an early boost with some rare contrabands, taking a short trip to Neon before continuing your interstellar journey is highly recommended. Here’s everything you need to know about Neon, and how to reach the cyberpunk-themed city in Starfield.

Neon’s Location in Starfield

Neon is in the System of Volii, which in turn, is within the Planet of Volii Alpha. To reach the System of Volii, you first need to take a 22-lightyear jump to New Atlantis and Jemison from your home system of Alpha Centauri. To find the location of Neon on your map, and find Alpha Centauri. After that, scan over to the right side of the planet system until you see the Olympus system. Following the Olympus system, you will eventually reach teh System of Volii.

Next, click on the System of Volii on the map and select Volii Alpha. You can identify Volii Alpha as a massive blue planet within the Volii system. Thankfully choosing a location to land on Volii isn’t particularly hard. Most of the planet of Volii is covered in water, with only one location being dry enough for you to land. After you land on Volii, simply proceed through the long platform in front of you. You will eventually reach a hallway with an elevator at the end of it. Take the elevator to travel to Neon, the cyberpunk-themed city in Starfield.

Reason(s) to Go to Neon in Starfield

You will eventually reach Neon as part of the All that Money Can Buy main story quest. The quest essentially revolves around Walter and you heading out to purchase an Artifact from a mysterious NPC. However, if you arrive at Neon much earlier than the main story quest, you can basically use that opportunity to explore the city. There are plenty of shops like the Trade Authority, which offer some really lucrative offers on anything that you’re carrying in your inventory. There’s also the Astral Lounge which you can use to hire new companions.

Lastly, there are some unique NPCs in Neon like Boone Morgan, who is a bartender. After talking to Boone, you can also choose to pick up Aurora, which is a time-slowing drug that makes the game’s time go slower by 40% but only for 10 seconds. However, if used properly, those 10 seconds are more than enough to kill a dozen hostiles with a well-placed headshot. Or you can use the time to simply escape to safety.
