28-year-old Ava Kris Tyson, who was formerly known as Chris Tyson, is a popular internet personality. She is best known for her long-standing relationship with YouTube star Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson, having been a part of the Kansas native’s crew for years.
However, Tyson has had a turbulent year in 2024, with serious allegations against her coming to light. The controversy eventually led to the content creator’s departure from MrBeast’s crew.

It all started on July 22, 2024, when videos of YouTuber prism42 surfaced on X, claiming that Ava Kris Tyson had an “inappropriate relationship” with a 13-year-old. According to prism42, Tyson conversed with an individual named Lava and made some questionable comments and jokes on social media.
For instance, prism42 displayed an alleged tweet Ava Kris Tyson posted in 2018, which read:
“I posted some fire noods for you. Pls no share.”
Furthermore, prism42 displayed old Discord conversations and Instagram photos of Ava Kris Tyson, Lava (then 13 years old), and Karl Jacobs. Providing details into the matter, the YouTuber claimed:
“Here is the picture of them meeting up together. I’m going to censor his face, and as you can see there – there’s Karl right there, there is Kris Tyson right there. Kris Tyson is talking to this guy since he was 13. Kris Tyson was in college, and of course, the moment he was able to drive, he takes a camper van out in the middle of the woods, which by the way is a very secluded area.”

Two videos over the last 30 days outline an alleged sexually inappropriate relationship with a minor that’s started with the minor at age 13 with plans to meet up with same minor at age 16.

Lava eventually responded to the controversy through Daniel “Keemstar,” claiming that he “was not groomed” by Tyson:
“MrBeast connected me (Keemstar) directly to Lava, the alleged Kris Tyson groomed victim. Lava, ‘I was not groomed by Kris Tyson.’ Lava, ‘I did not meet Kris Tyson by myself I met Kris and the MrBeast crew with my family present.’ Lava, ‘I ran a Discord with Kris Tyson when I was 13, and edgy inappropriate jokes were said that’s it.”

Allegations of Supporting Controversial Artist Shadman
Ava Kris Tyson was also accused of supporting the art of highly contentious cartoonist Shadman. For context, Shadman is a Swiss artist known for creating provocative and explicit artwork. One of his most notorious scandals involved him creating problematic artwork of Keemstar’s 7-year-old daughter. Shadman eventually took down the drawing.
On July 21, 2024, YouTuber Acheeto highlighted Tyson’s social media post from November 18, 2017, claiming that she admitted to owning a piece of artwork made by Shadman:
“Kris Tyson goes on Twitter and admits to have purchased this pedophile’s artwork. This is insane! The fact that he doesn’t see anything wrong with it, too, is almost in a lot of ways more frightening. Because it’s one thing to know that it’s wrong and then to still do it because, at least, that you have a moral. You know? A little voice telling you, ‘Hey, don’t do it.’ This guy is like, ‘Yeah, this is awesome! Yeah, I own artwork of this guy in my living room. Artwork that he has produced, of a little child.'”
Streamers React
Numerous prominent streamers and content creators reacted to the Ava Kris Tyson controversy. On July 23, 2024, Twitch streamer Imane “Pokimane” claimed that she wasn’t aware of “all the details” about the situation, but she did say that “any inappropriate behavior towards minors is unacceptable.” Furthermore, the Moroccan-Canadian personality feared that the controversy would result in an “attack” on the trans community:
“I don’t know all the details regarding the Ava situation but I wanna make it clear: any inappropriate behavior towards minors is unacceptable, regardless of who you are. It’s a shame that people will see this as an opportunity to attack the trans community as a whole. One person’s actions does not reflect on every single trans person, so please don’t view it that way.”

On the other hand, YouTube streamer Rachell “Valkyrae” described the situation as “disappointing and disgusting” after Ava Kris Tyson addressed the controversy:
“I was hoping for a more detailed response but glad Ava is overall stepping away from mr beasts team. Disappointing and disgusting”
Meanwhile, controversial internet personality Nico “Sneako” called out Pokimane for not being “consistent” and not “disavowing” Ava Kris Tyson because of her actions:
“When are you going to go and disavow Kris and MrBeast? You have way more information! You actually have the receipts, and you haven’t said a word yet.”

Ava Kris Tyson Responds
On July 24, 2024, Ava Kris Tyson responded to the allegations in a series of tweets. While apologizing to those who were “hurt or offended” by her past behavior, the content creator announced her intention to step away from everything MrBeast and social media.
I would like to apologize for any of my past behavior or comments if it hurt or offended anyone. It was not my intent. Seeing recent events we’ve mutually decided it’s best I permanently step away from all things MrBeast and social media to focus on my family and mental health.

In response to the “narrative” that her behavior “extended beyond bad edgy jokes,” Tyson remarked:
“To lump these two factors together to create a narrative that my behavior extended beyond bad edgy jokes is disgusting and did not happen. In past years, I have learned that my old humor is not acceptable. I cannot change who I was, but I can continue to work on myself. I don’t want these accusations to impact the hundreds of people who work at MrBeast, which is why I have stepped away.”
The following day (July 25, 2024), MrBeast addressed the community, stating that he was “disgusted and opposed” to Ava Kris Tyson’s online behavior.
